Bug#819116: Reporting on this issue on xubuntu

2016-08-26 Thread Pier Luigi Pau
Dear Maintainers,

I am withholding the upgrade to stretch (for different reasons) on my only
debian-based computer using an Intel video chip, but I do have a laptop
running xubuntu 16.04.1, which had the same issue as in this bug (and its
duplicates #819083, #821871, #828175 and #830664), and it appears that the
bug has finally been addresses these past few days, both on (x)ubuntu and
upstream (although it is not clear to me whether the issue has indeed been
fixed for all chipsets).

Please review the relevant patches or, if deemed preferable, update to a
new upstream snapshot - or update the state of this bug if it is indeed
fixed as of 2:2.99.917+git20160706-1.

...Nou... it is a diff, not a commit, sorry. And it is dated 2009...

well... i'll try 2.6.39! (when i have a little time)

Input: elantech - discard the first 2 positions on some firmwares

According to the Dell/Ubuntu driver, what was previously observed as
jumpy cursor corresponds to the hardware sending incorrect data for
the first two reports of a one touch finger. So let's use the same
workaround as in the other driver. Also, detect another firmware
version with the same behaviour, as in the other driver.

Bug#626507: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Elantech touchpad nearly unusable

2011-05-12 Thread Pier Paolo
Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
Version: 1.2.2-2
Severity: important

Hi all, this problem affect my netbook (Samsung NB30P) since squeeze 6.01.
I had not find my way through Google and all (i find some old pages about pre-
inkernel elantech patches to synaptics, but not more).

The problem is that, wathever shmconfig/xorg.conf.d or fdi or udev i use, my
touchpad cannot scroll (horiz and vert) in a reasonably predictable way, more
than a scrolling it is a jumping and quite randomly (to the top, the middle,
the bottom, the third...): a mess.

Actually, simply i don't want to compile a more recent kernel than the squeeze
one:
some hope the problem is solved (that is a REGRESSION: it worked like a charm
with lenny ant the first squeeze),
or move on to testing or to a new kernel?

Thank you for all the fish,
and sorry for my bad en,
Pier Paolo.

PS: Even errors or operations on Xorg.log are quite random, some times it loads
a Machintosh mouse, fore ex.
This is recurrent instead: Query no Synaptics: 6003C8

   Hi all,
after last upgrade of Squeeze i am in severe troubles with my touchpad:

 cat /proc/bus/input/devices | grep ETPS

Without any xorg.conf.d the problem remains (no tap, unusable at all
twofinger-scroll); i searched througth debian's bugs and google, but no
results. It seems X reject the actual mouse1 ETPS and use a (nonexixtent?)
