Actually, I do know.  There was a bug in the X server wrapper.  It's fixed
in 4.0.1-11.

Hi Harald,

you need to reconfigure the pkg xserver-common
do an dpkg-reconfigure xserver-common and select 'anybody'. This did the
job for me. Be aware, it means anybody can start the xserver!
