ISHIKAWA-san, to reach the bug submitter you need to mail
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Oops, I'll take care about it.

(or bugnumber-done, which will also close the bug, of course).

If a report is wrong clearly and it should be closed,
may I close the report?

Yes. This applies to you and maybe a couple of other people on the
debian-x list, though, not to people in general.

Everybody else should follow the guidelines on the X Strike Force page.

Bug#163998: xserver-xfree86: Conflicting symbols in xtt and freetype modules

2002-10-10 Thread Juliusz Chroboczek
TM X server crashes when modules freetype and xtt are both enabled. Here is

TM Duplicate symbol TT_FreeType_Version in

[...]

It doesn't crash, it fails gracefully.

The fact that both modules cannot be used simultaneously is
documented. If any configuration tools produce XF86Config files with
both modules enabled, it is a bug in said configuration tools.

Branden, I think you can mark this bug as ``Broken as Designed.''

 It is not a bug.

Please read section `5. Additional notes about TrueType support'
of /usr/share/doc/xfree86-common/README.fonts.gz

5. Additional notes about TrueType support

This version of XFree86 comes with two TrueType backends, FreeType (module
`freetype', formerly known as xfsft) and X-TrueType (module `xtt'). These
two backends are not compatible: only one of them can be used at any one
time.
