The ati driver is buggy at 1400x1050: XVideo doesn't work.
(note that the driver from gatos.sf.net works fine)

I've seen some problems with XVideo at 24bit, but using
16bit it seems to be fine. Switching back to text mode has
some interesting problems, too (independent of using XVideo).

I should close this bug, then?

Its not a bug report, it was just an enhancement request. It
took me some time to find the params for XF86Config, and I
didn't like to get this lost again. Close it, if you want.

Mr. Dunkel, do you concur?

Yes. Thanx anyway

Harri

If you only have 8MB video memory and are running at 24bpp that would be
this bug:

#148775 - xserver-xfree86: [ati/r128] patch #069 seems to confuse XVideo
into thinking it doesn't have enough video RAM on Rage 128 Mobility LF
rev 2

Setting the depth down to 16bpp lets you use XVideo again.

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.3.0-0pre1v5

Hi folks,

This is the timing for 1400x1050 @ 60Hz for an
ATI Rage 128 Mobility 3 (e.g. Dell Latitude C600):

Modeline 1400x1050 108.0 1400 1448 1462 1688 1050 1050 1053 1066

I got this timing from Dell's support page.

Is there a chance to get it included as an official
timing in the ati driver, and in the debconf installation
menu?

Regards

Harri
