Bug#234877: xserver-common: Failure in configuration for i830
Hi, About 3 years ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding a failure to configure the X server on a i830 board. Did you reproduce this problem recently? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks. Thanks, Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#234877: xserver-common: Failure in configuration for i830
Hi, just an additional information: After #226430 was closed I'm now able to get XFree 4.3.0 working with my *old* configuration which was builded using the broken binary. Resume: The current xfree packages does not create a /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file on (some?) i830 based machines but the binary works if you use the configuration which was created by the not working binaries from the last xfree-packages from experimental. Feel free to ask me for further information but I'm not sure which information would be helpfull here. Kind regards Andreas.
Bug#234877: xserver-common: Failure in configuration for i830
Package: xserver-common Version: 4.3.0-2 Severity: normal When upgrading the X-related packages on my testing system to the new 4.3.0-2 series I observed the following line "at postinst time": parse error reading X server string `intelfb' I did not really found out to which package this might be related. This line was followed immediately by start_configlet: configlet in path /usr/share/configlets/xserver-common is bad I can reproduce the last line whenever I try to dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 I get this error message. After this no /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 is created at all which renders the package unusable (at least for those people who have no idea how to build it by hand). If I use an older /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file I created with the last packages from experimental I just get a black screen. This might or might not be related to #226430. Because there is no comment on this bug I guess it is not yet solved and I think the severity of this bug has to be increased because I'm not able to use X on that box in question at all (while there might be good chances that it would work with some former experimental packages). Kind regards and thanks for caring for the X packages Andreas. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (499, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.24 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages xserver-common depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.3.22 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii xfree86-common 4.3.0-2 X Window System (XFree86) infrastr -- debconf information: xserver-common/xwrapper/nice_value/error: xserver-common/xwrapper/allowed_users: Console Users Only xserver-common/xwrapper/actual_allowed_users: console xserver-common/xwrapper/nice_value: -10
