I think that essentially the common issue is that xrdb's overriding of resource settings is confusing the code I made to try to keep the cursor and foreground/background colors distinct. But the detail regarding the dynamically-updated cursor color also exercises a different part of the code (that I haven't visited for some time). -- Thomas E.
