This means that Romanian layout was not loaded, your /var/log/[gkwx]dm.log file should contain error messages. Can you please tell how you switch to Romanian and send error messages written into your log file? Denis

hi, I tested your xkb files, hungarian is very satisfactory, better than before, it has "í" in the right place, but romanian does nothing, it's the same as english. It should have â = \ þ = '* º = ;* î = ] ã = [ as it was before. Or even better: the * signed are wrong. i used to edit /usr/share/xmodmap/xmodmap.ro and change it to: keycode 47 = scedilla Scedilla keycode 48 = tcedilla Tcedilla so romanian keyboard layout would work, as it should. i did not try theese changes in theis new style layout configs. i'll send words, if i find it out. Could you please get new XKB files from http://people.debian.org/~barbier/xkb/xkb-4.3.0.dfsg.1-8+SVN.tar.bz2 and test your desired layouts? These layouts can be loaded without problems, but as I am not familiar with them, it is pretty hard to check that everything works fine. Since we are releasing soon, your feedback is very important to quickly solve problems if needed (or to know that it works ;)). Here are basic instructions for testing: # cd /tmp # wget http://people.debian.org/~barbier/xkb/xkb-4.3.0.dfsg.1-8+SVN.tar.bz2 # cd /etc/X11 # mv xkb xkb.orig # tar jxf /tmp/xkb-4.3.0.dfsg.1-8+SVN.tar.bz2 # mv xkb xkb.test # ln -s xkb.test xkb [Restart X, perform tests] # rm xkb # mv xkb.orig xkb # rm -rf xkb.test Thanks Denis begin:vcard fn:Dobai-Pataky Balint n:Balint;Dobai-Pataky org:Xenzor;ISP adr:;;Victoriei 6;Odorhei;hr;;ro email;internet:[EMAIL PROTECTED] title:Network Administrator tel;work:066-213789 tel;cell:0740-152277 url:http://www.xenzor.ro version:2.1 end:vcard

ok, i'll do that soon. but i resolved my problem with seting Option "XkbDisable""true" in the keyboard section of XF86Config, the result was very satisfactory, gkb layout switcher came with the flags as in woody, and people love that :), and it worked too. anyways, i'll do the testing, as soon, as it'll be possible. thanks for the mail.
