Ok thanks! Yes we are aware of the XV problem. Can you try to use xine and
see if that works? We have a couple of reports where it is only mplayer
having problems. Please also attach the output of xvinfo. It will help us
isolating the problem that seems to be specific to a range of nvidia cards
and not all of them.

xine does work - I'm using -V xv to try and force it to use XVideo.
It seems to be, and with --verbose=2 it has this as part of the output:

video_out_xv: using Xv port 61 from adaptor NV Video Overlay for
hardware colorspace conversion and scaling.

video_out_xv: double buffering mode = 1

Bug#271235: Bug#270228: Bug#269025: new nv driver. please test!

2004-09-18 Thread David Vanderson

Fabio,

Thanks for the new driver. I submitted bug 271235 - that's the one I'm
testing:

I installed xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-7_i386.deb (originally had the
problem). Then I overwrote nv_drv.o with your new one. X started fine
but the problem was still there (no output in mplayer with XVideo).

I downgraded to xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-6_i386.deb (originally was
fine). I overwrote nv_drv.o with your new one. X started fine but the
problem showed up again.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.

Thanks,
Dave

Yes the problem is the driver itself. You can keep -7 and use the new
driver while we figure what is wrong.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.

Thanks! I will let you when we will have something new to test.

My deepest apology for the few bits that were wrong in the first driver. I
just uploaded a new version that should fix the unresolved symbol and at
least on my machine doesn't crash using mplayer -vo xv as reported.

The new driver is at:

http://people.no-name-yet.com/~fabbione/nv/i386/

(other archs might follow soon)

Notice that there is also a riva128.o that needs to be installed in the
same directory as nv_drv.o (see my previous post).

The code has been submitted in my personal branch on the SVN repository so
it is publically available, but i still signed the md5sum with the same
key as I did before since there are only precompiled binaries on the
website.

I ask you kindly to test this driver again and let me know as soon as
possible if it works or not.

Thanks
Fabio
