Bug#271235: new nv driver that should fix Xv extensions: please test!

2004-09-22 Thread David Vanderson

Fabio,

Thanks for the updated deb. Unfortunately I still get the dreaded grey
window in mplayer (xine still works). The nv_drv.o from 1-6 works when
I copied it on top of your current 1-7+SVN, if that helps at all.

Thanks very much,
Dave

Please download it and install it using
dpkg -i xserver-xfree86_4.3.0.dfsg.1-7+SVN_i386.deb

and restart X.

Test in the usual way and let me know..

Thanks a lot
Fabio

Fabio,

Thanks for your continued work on this - I really appreciate it.

The most recent drivers exhibit the same behavior - mplayer shows a grey
window, xine works fine. This is with my nvidia GeForce2 MX 400.

Thanks,
Dave

Strange, after restarting (I have tried several times), I can't seem
to use MPlayer with Xv no more. The same grey window appears.

Perhaps I should add that my setup consists of an ATI Radeon 9100 AGP
as my primary video card, and the GeForce2 MX PCI as a secondary card.

Totem (based on Xine) works fine.

 Good!

I forgot to add that the first time I run Totem the window where the
video should play is completely blue. The second time everything plays
ok. (But I belive this is an known and unrelated bug?).

Do you think you can perform this test?

Sure!

Tried with the Geforce2 MX PCI solo, no luck.
MPlayer with Xv - gray window.
Totem (with Xine) - works, but with the same blue error described earlier.

Also tried with a GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP, the results were the same.

 Hi everybody,
thanks a lot for all the tests you have been done so far.

I uploaded again a new nv driver that should fix the Xv extension
here:

 http://people.no-name-yet.com/~fabbione/nv/i386/

 same drill as before.

Please let me know asap how things look like.

Using a GeForce2 MX, the new driver works better, but there are still
problems. I could play a video with MPlayer using Xv the first time I
tried, the second time all I get is a grey window, same as the
original bug :-(

Totem (based on Xine) works fine.

Please let me know if you need additional info.

It sounds to me like if players have problems selecting the correct
viewport. Also, your setup is not really really common. I would try, as a
workaround, to disable the ATI temporary, and see if everything works only
with the nvidia.

Do you think you can perform this test?

Thanks
Fabio

2004-09-20 Thread Andrei Badea

Hello Fabio,

The new driver doesn't seem to work on my GeForce2 MX400. I encounter the same
behavior as before from both mplayer (gray window) and tvtime. Even restarted X
a few times, didn't help.

Xine works fine.

Best regards,
Andrei
