Bug#289749: xfree86-common (other?): X won't start after last dist-upgrade (20050109)

2005-01-10 Thread schaffer
Package: xfree86-common (other?)
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 20041215174925 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

X won't start with the following messages:
Symbol xf86ForceHWCursorfrom module
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/r128_drv.0 is unresolved

before that I get5 a few messages of the form

Skipping "usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/xxx.a": yyy.o: No symbols
found

where xxx= libGLcore | libspeedo
and yyy= mdebug_[clip|norm|xform|vertex].o | spencode.o

when running the dist-upgrade, I always instructed debconf to use the
old versions of the configuration files
