That bug report was made with reportbug, it didn't pull the version number
out for me, I guess. Perhaps I have an old package in my unstable
distribution. How do I go about upgrading to use X.Org instead?

Hello, Greg.

Definitely you seem to have an old unstable snapshot. If you like the
risk
(currently unstable is...errr...unstable), move to x.org packages. If you are
in unstable, you *should* know how to upgrade your system.

If you are not confident of you, use stable or testing. Unstable is the
bleeding edge of Debian. Do not get hurt.

In the meantime, if you have XFree86, run

/usr/share/bug/xserver-xfree86/script 3 /tmp/xfree86-report

and send us the /tmp/xfree86-report file.

Best regards,

Ender.

it says to include all of /var/log/XFree86.0.log , but I can't very well
include it here. no copy-and-paste on the terminal.
so I'll email it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] right after this, with the bug report
number

Hello, Greg. Please do not make that.

There is a nice tool called reportbug to make good bug reports. You
have not
stated which version on XFree86 o X.Org you are using.

The footer from your report says that you are in unstable. There are no
XFree86 packages in unstable, only X.Org's ones. Either report against the
XFree86 version in stable (i.e. sarge), or upgrade to the latest packages in
sid, that in 6 hours will be 6.8.2.dfsg.1-3 (right now are 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2).

Best regards,

Ender.
