Ah, a rebadged ECS G320. Try the driver at unichrome.sf.net or the Xorg
6.8.2 that's in sid, or the backported one. If you want, i can also
provide you with a binary against xfree86 ... -14, from
unichrome.sf.net CVS.

2005-08-23 Thread Антон
Hello!
The case(problem) is the following: using the driver VESA there is a certain
"braking" - work slowly - when running a video (fullscreen mode). and using
the driver "via' for xfree86 everything is shown incorrectly.

data about the system:
Debian sarge 3.1
kernel 2.6.8-2-386
X-server version 4.3.0
about hardware
notebook roverbook partnel E418L
CPU via c-3
video via cle266
In man via it is written, that in Xfree86-config-4 you should write in the
following way:
Section "Device"
         Identifier "devname"
         Driver "via"
         ...
EndSection
With this configuration starting XFree picture isn`t shown on LCD monitor, but
it switches on the CRT, then i read in man via that`s why it is necessary to
add an option: "ActiveDevice"
after that section "device" was the following:

Section "Device"
   Identifier   "VIA CLE266"
   Driver      "via"
   Option "ActiveDevice" "LCD,CRT"
EndSection

but now, though picture was shown on the LCD monitor but picture was
incorrectly (lines and quadrangles). There is no problem with the hardware
because everething works in windows (XP) and with vesa driver too and only
video "brakes" I know that everything works correctly on the same notebooks
of some aquantances but not with debian (for example AlT linux). I tried to
copy all the sections for monitor and vidocard from their XFree86-config-4,
but it didn`t help - the picture was incorrect. That`s why i decided to write
to you an i hope that something will be clear for me.

I thought that the new dpkg coped with this, but it is likely that the
version in sarge have npot got these changes. Thank you.

Anton, please use the second command, it is safer than mine.

Best regards,

Ender.

This can show wrong version. For example, 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 while actual
version is 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14.

Better use
COLUMNS=100 dpkg -l |grep dfsg

Hello. Apart from explaining your problem in English, could you please
send
us the exact version of your XFree86 packages? You know:

dpkg -l |grep dfsg

Best regards,

Ender.
