I meant S4 hibernation (suspend-to-disk).  S3 suspend-to-ram has its own
problems.

Xv does work from reboot (i.e. without suspend or hibernation).

Spoke too soon.  Videos still come out with blue screen under Xv (on
laptop LCD display, LVDS).  Not yet clear why it worked during testing but
fails now.  Possibly because of S3 hibernation?
