2007/10/3, Brice Goglin: Thanks I am looking forward for that. Can You post direct url ? http://people.debian.org/~bgoglin/rebuilds/i810/1.7.2-Xserver1.4/http://people.debian.org/%7Ebgoglin/rebuilds/i810/1.7.2-Xserver1.4/ Untested, of course :) Tested. ~$ glxinfo | grep render direct rendering: Yes OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 845G 20061017 x86/MMX/SSE2 Package doesn't install because of package conflict. This could be fixed so i810 replaces i810 link to intel with driver file. But binaries are compatible. I unpacked i810_drv.so from Your package and copied to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/i810_drv.so Also having acpid instead of apmd caused black LCD. Now everything works fine. Thanks for fast response, good job:)
Bug#420350: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Bug in driver
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.1.1-4 Followup-For: Bug #420350 Bug still exist after half of the year and I think its NOT in the core as debian packaged driver from 2007/03/05 worked just fine with the new core. However I cant get it back as I dont remember which xorg-core didnt complain about older driver and didnt remove it, I managed to run compiz-fusion on them. Current core depends on new intel package which cause black screen. I suggest temporarly fix for this by removing that dependence and allowing 1.7.2-4 i810 driver to be installed with new core. I'll also try to remove I2C from kernel as it might give bogus output. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /etc/X11/X target does not match checksum in /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum. You might want to try the latest upstream git repository. See http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/10936.html for some help on building it. However I cant get it back as I dont remember which xorg-core didnt complain about older driver and didnt remove it, I managed to run compiz-fusion on them. Current core depends on new intel package which cause black screen. xserver-xorg-core 1.4 actually depends on any driver providing xserver-xorg-video-2, i.e. any driver that has been built against xserver-xorg-dev 1.4. So it's not really about which version of the intel/i810 driver, it just how it has been built. I suggest temporarly fix for this by removing that dependence and allowing 1.7.2-4 i810 driver to be installed with new core. The real workaround would be to rebuild xserver-xorg-video-i810 against xserver-xorg-dev 1.4. I'll try to do that and place it on people.debian.org soon.
