Package: mesa-utils
Version: 7.5-2
Severity: minor
In general, I'm all for shipping upstream changelogs, as their
contents are often of interest. However, in the case of mesa-utils,
doing so increased the package's installed footprint by approximately
a factor of 15(!). Moreover, it already depends on libgl1-mesa-glx |
libgl1, where the only alternative is libgl1-mesa-swx11; either option
already contains an identical changelog.gz. (AFAICT, the non-free
fglrx-glx and nvidia-glx drivers don't themselves provide libgl1, so
they're not a consideration here.)
In fact, most of the sixteen binary packages mesa builds depend on
other mesa packages; the only exceptions appear to be libgl1-mesa-dri,
libgl1-mesa-glx, libosmesa6, and mesa-common-dev, so I'd generally
suggest leaving extra copies of changelog.gz out of the remainder.
