When trying out the KDE 4 desktop effects which have magically begun
to work on my notebook after the lastest sid upgrade, I experenced
one complete system crash when the system effect desktop cube was
enabled. When doing a desktop switch with this effect enabled, the
switch effect stopped in the middle of its movement and the system
completely stood still. No ping on the network any more, it was just
completely dead in the water.
could you please tell us how it goes with the current X stack in sid?
I haven't had that type of crash for a long time, but I have switched
back to desktop cube for the time being. I have switched hardware in
the mean time though, my new notebook has
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400
The RV350 I had reported this issue a year ago is gone and won't return.
If you don't hear from me in two weeks of time, go ahead and close the
bug.
Greetings
Marc
