Bug#570988: xserver-xorg-video-intel: blackout

2010-07-24 Thread Juha Mäkinen
I installed the xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.12 from experimental (and
some dependencies too) on my debian squeeze and so far so good. No X
crashes so far. But, of course, better knock on wood...

With the upgraded packages today ( 4 july 2010 ) and letting X do the default
settings
things work most of the time. Except that once in a while (hours to days) I get
blackout and X shuts off.

Xorg.0.log tells me that failed to submit batchbuffer: Input/Output error

Whatever that may mean...

here also from /var/log/kern.log

and /proc/version

version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-1) ) #1 SMP Tue Jun 1 04:59:47 UTC 2010

is this reproducible with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.12 from experimental?

Cheers,
Julien

Bug#570988: xserver-xorg-video-intel: blackout

2010-07-15 Thread Elena Grassi
Today, after two days without problems, my X server crashed at startup
(before the gdm login appeared, with black screen and only the mouse
pointer on it).
The log says:

(EE) intel(0): I830 Dma Cleanup Failed
(EE) intel(0): failed to destroy server context
(II) intel(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
(II) intel(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xf7c1f000 at 0xb71e1000
(II) intel(0): [drm] Closed DRM master.

I guess my video card is really buggy :)

sorry to read that.

Chris Wilson (upstream) is kindly asking for a full X log, that would
be interesting if you can reproduce the crash. What you pasted seems
to be only the shutdown after the actual crash.

 Here it is.

Thanks,

I've prepared a new version of 2.12+UMS packages, which is available
at the same place:
  http://people.debian.org/~kibi/packages/xserver-xorg-video-intel/

Version is now: 2.12.0-1+ickle2

There's also a fix for UMS in the mesa package I've just uploaded (and
which should be built and available for all architectures in a few
hours), so could you please test mesa packages version 7.7.1-4 + the
new version of the driver when you get a chance?

Mraw,
KiBi.

is this reproducible with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.12 from experimental?

Here with a debian unstable i386 with xserver-xorg-video-intel and
libdr-intel1 just upgraded from experimental (2:2.12.0-1 and 2.4.21-1)
I still have

[7.863194] render error detected, EIR: 0x0010
[7.863201] [drm:i915_handle_error] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x0010, masking
[7.863216] render error detected, EIR: 0x0010

I'm waiting to be able to tell you if X is still dying with the
batchbuffer error.
My card is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation
82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03)
(prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

OK. 8xx card, which are quite buggy. Can you please check what happens

Sorry, I'm at work and I hadn't tried that before: yep, the error is
gone - thanks.
As soon as I finish some work I will try to invoke the X crash with
some not-all-the-time-but-usually-crashy moves and give some updates.

E.
