Bug#592588: [scorched3d] Crash and reset of X graphics interfaces on ACER Traelmate 6292

2011-02-09 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Hi Marco,

Marco Righi marco.ri...@gmail.com (19/08/2010):
 I work with this machine, I prefer do not upgrgade to an
 experimental version of the driver.

 Sorry, I can not risk a stop of the machine.

the version Julien mentioned (a newer one, even) is now in squeeze,
aka “stable”. An update would be appreciated.

Bug#592588: [scorched3d] Crash and reset of X graphics interfaces on ACER Traelmate 6292

2010-08-19 Thread Marco Righi
I do not understand how to create the debug infomration. In have
installed the *-dbg as you suggest and I start to follow the instructions.

I connect to the laptop via an SSH channel from another computer and I
stopped the gdm, using an user I launched X and after I start to follow
the instruction as follows

===
Date:gio ago 19 Time:15:16:58
User:root Computer:europa Base:~ Current:~
Command 506 of 7 #gdb -p 3562
===

after this command the X of the laptop freezes, so I continued all the
list of the commands (here I report all the things written on desktop)

You need to type 'continue' here at the gdb prompt. That will unblock
X, and let you run the program that crashes it. Then gdb will stop it
again, and at that point you can get a backtrace.

 (gdb) bt full

 Perhaps I can help you because on the shell of the notebook appears this
 error (that reports the point[er] that causes the error)

 Please also check the log file at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for additional
 information.
 X: ../../src/i830_batchbuffer.h:79: intel_batch_emit_dword: Assertion
 'pI830-batch_ptr != ((void *)0' failed.
 xinit: connection to X server lost.

OK, this bit is useful, thanks. Can you upgrade
xserver-xorg-video-intel to the version in experimental (2.12), and try
again?

Cheers,
Julien
