 interest to you.

Thanks and yes, I didn't see it.

I had similar experience with mesa 7.10-3, 7.10-4 and kernel 2.6.32. But
today, after upgrade to distro kernel 2.6.37-2 all is ok.

Unfortunately I cannot try if this helps me because I have to run 2.6.38 to be
able to override the use of SSC. The SSC setting simply doesn't work on the
U160 but for older kernels you cannot override it.

It might be https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33889 , can you
 try if cherry-picking commit 63b9790a55038c262b57c846a5f7067ea33fc60f
('r600g: move user fence into base radeon structure') from Git master helps?

No, doesn't make a difference. BTW it would help a lot if you could add a link
to the patch or at least to the archive to your email so the user doesn't have
to search for it before trying the patch.

 No, doesn't make a difference.

Bummer. I guess r600g doesn't seem quite ready yet after all in 7.10,
maybe we can try again with 7.11...

It's standard practice to reference Git commits by their hash. We could
have helped you find it if you had asked.

Bug#612609: upgrade to 7.10-3 disables composite effects

2011-02-14 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Hi,

Stefan bugs.debian@kanarski.de (14/02/2011):
I have a similar problem with 3D acceleration.

please find your own bug.

 With libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10-3 I get the following in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[13.283] (EE) AIGLX error: Calling driver entry point failed
[13.284] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
[13.284] (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable
[13.297] (II) AIGLX: Loaded and initialized /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so
[13.297] (II) GLX: Initialized DRISWRAST GL provider for screen 0

Not the same issue as Michael's AFAICT.

If you want to give upstream a chance:
  http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howtos/build-mesa.html

(I didn't write anything about updating the environment to get X to
grab the hand-built mesa libraries, but you could figure it out.)

If that still doesn't work:
  http://bugs.freedesktop.org/

Component is Mesa.

Hello,

while with 7.10-2 I get

But maybe it's not quite comparable to Michael's problem since I am using a
newer kernel and another ATI graphics card on a DELL Precision M6500:

[ 6657.834]

I was very curious about the new Gallium driver but until it works I will stay
with 7.10-2. Maybe Calling driver entry point failed points someone into the
right direction if it's related to the original problem at all. Thanks for the
good work it's very appreciated.

Best regards
Stefan

Bug#612609: upgrade to 7.10-3 disables composite effects

2011-02-09 Thread Michael Meskes
Package: libgl1-mesa-dri
Version: 7.10-3
Severity: important

I upgraded my KDE to the experimental 4.6.0 version just to find out that
composite effects were not working anymore. So I downgraded the changes just to
figure out they were still not working. Further investigation showed that the
upgrade to libgl1-mesa-dri caused the problem. Downgrading this one package to
7.7.1-4 fixed the problem immediately.

With 7.10-3 glxgears shows just a black screen while 7.7.1-4 shows the gears as
it is supposed to do.

I'm not sure about the severity because this bug complely broke my
desktop environment leaving me with just a blank screen.

You mean other than:

michael@feivel:~$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf

How do I do this? And why does it work with the older version of this library?

Get rid of anything fglrx, or any modprobe blacklist you may have for
radeon. I can't be any more specific because you haven't given any logs
from your system.

Older versions of the package shipped the classic r300 driver, which
supported both UMS and KMS. We switched to the gallium driver, which
requires KMS.

Sorry about that, I thought reportbug would take care of adding this kind of
