If that's not just a configuration issue (see my reply to Salvo), feel free to report that directly upstream: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/ Product xorg, component Input/synaptics. You're welcome to Cc me on the upstream bug report, or to mention the number/URL here. KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#614600: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: lost tapping after upgrade to 1.3.99.901-1
I am experiencing the same bug here. After upgrading to 1.3.99.901-1 tapping stopped working. It was working fine with the previous version, with the very same setup as now: Configuration (xorg.conf), Hardware, and /dev/-device didn't change. By using gpointing-device-settings every setting can be changed (e.g. Speed, Scrolling) EXCEPT tapping; if, according to gpointing-device-settings, tapping is enabled, it still doesn't work. Dmesg line: input: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input7 Device: ls -l /dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-1-mouse lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 23. Hi, Salvo Tomaselli (22/02/2011): > Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics > Version: 1.3.99.901-1 > Severity: important > > I can't tap anymore. it's always to good to mention the previous setup where things were working. > Since my computer only has left button separated, i can use middle > and right buttons only with tapping, meaning that they are not > available for me at the current moment. (a) Anyway, you can use synclient or gpointing-device-settings to set options. That'll help us make sure touchpad settings are actually working. (b) Looking at your configuration, it might just be that you're using an inappropriate /dev/input/* as device. Doc to get you started: http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howto/configure-input.html Provided (a) works fine, (b) should help you hard-code configuration as you wish.
