Removing the line in misc.c which says

fprintf(fp, "Inherits=\n");

seems to be the right fix - from xterm's side:  Xcursor really should check the
length of the name for the inherited theme.

Changing the mousetheme to another than "Standard" gets xterm up,
though.

symbols, without them the backtrace is useless.

Could you please rebuild xterm with debug symbols and get a backtrace
from gdb?  Either build the package with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip or
run xterm from the build tree.

"It doesn't work" is not a useful bug description.  Please show what
error messages you see when starting xterm (from some other terminal
emulator).
