The author of DEHS just confirmed that DEHS uses a package's watch file to
generate the information. I assume the QA page does the same. Thus the watch
columns should become active once the packages are uploaded with the watch
files.

Go for it. This would be nice to have.

Package watch files

2006-09-25 Thread Thierry Reding
Hi all,

I've just noticed that most of the XSF packages don't ship with a watch-file.
Now, I know that some people don't like watch-files and other do, so I wanted
to ask what the XSF's stance was.

I have already talked to Drew Parsons about this on IRC, and he referred me
to the XSF todo list[0], which lists the watch columns on the QA[1] page as
one item to be done. Now, following the watch column links to the DEHS
page[2], and by looking at the source of the DEHS scripts on alioth, it very
much looks like these scripts use a database constructed from package watch-
files to show a package's status (I will try to contact the author of DEHS
to confirm this).

That said, and if nobody has any objections, I was planning to systematically
go through the SVN trunk and add watch-files to packages that don't have one
yet.
