Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.0.10
Severity: normal

Hi,

I just installed the actual xserver-xorg and after trying to start
it tells me

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

I tried to investigate and found out that the font fixed is an alias
which is defined in /etc/X11/fonts/X11R7/misc/xfonts-base.alias. But
it seems as it isn't used.

Regards, Michael

bingo! that was the missing package
the problem is that selecting task-x-window-system marks half of the
software I have to be deleted, so I had to manually go over the whole
process, probably forgetting some more pieces other than xutils.

I'm going to file a wishlist bug against man-db: when updating the
package, /etc/cron.weekly/man-db should be fired up, because that is
where the apropos/whatis database is generated

Thanks for your help

missing font?

2000-11-08 Thread Pierfrancesco Caci

After I've managed to get X4 to work, I've completed some updates from
the woody mirrors and now I get this message:

Fatal server error:
could not open default cursor font 'cursor'

Maybe there is some font that is not completely installed: can someone
please tell me which package does this "cursor" font belong to?

Thanks, Pf

missing font?

2000-11-08 Thread Pierfrancesco Caci

After I've managed to get X4 to work, I've completed some updates from
the woody mirrors and now I get this message:

Fatal server error:
could not open default cursor font 'cursor'

Maybe there is some font that is not completely installed: can someone
please tell me which package does this "cursor" font belong to?

Thanks, Pf
