Bug#772420: xorg: Error in /usr/bin/Xorg malloc() smallbin double linked list corrupted

2014-12-06 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.7+7
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
xorg crashes rather often during periods of inactivity either when on
savescreen or on lid closed. I'm unable to trigger this reliably though.
The console shows the message above, with address 0x7fb377837180.
Thanks.

Bug#498884: xserver-xorg: Error in I830WaitLpRing()

2009-06-13 Thread Sanjoy Mahajan
I'm using the intel driver from unstable (2.7.1), and I have not noticed
the problem.

2.7.1 also fixed other hangs I often noticed with 2.7.0. The fix was
probably this change:

* Fix multiplication error when computing required batch space.
This could fix any number of cases where the driver did
inexplicable things (due to having computed the wrong
  size). [Keith Packard kei...@keithp.com]

After about a day of uptime, the X server suddenly crashed; xdm tried
to restart it but the server kept crashing. Restarting xdm didn't
help, but rebooting did.

The machine is a Thinkpad T60 with Intel integrated graphics.

Here is the xdm.log.1 file, which contains the X server error message
(Error in I830WaitLpRing()) with other debugging info. I don't
think I can reproduce the error as I've not seen it happen any other
time.

I'm running a plain Etch gnome and X.

I *can* upgrade the X packages to testing or unstable, but I *don't
want to*, given the current track record. e.g. the fact that upgrading
will bring down a ton of other ***unnecessary dependencies that
could have been avoided if the testing packages had been compiled
against the minimum dependencies (http://www.mkgnu.net/?q=node/103) of
the software. Not to mention that for the past 4 years after I start X
if I switch back to a text console the text looks jagged, permanently
(but not if the system is just booting).

At this point I want things to work as expected. It was working with
Debian 3.0. It should work now.

Bug#363285: xserver-xorg: Error activating XKB configuration after update

2007-06-17 Thread Brice Goglin
Hi,

About a year ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding your
XKB config not being enabled anymore after upgrade. Did you reproduce
this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest xserver-xorg-core and
xkb-data in unstable? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks.

Thanks,
Brice

Hmmm... I've just seen that the bug had been closed because it was fixed.
The Debian BTS sucks again by not sending mail to bug submitters...

This was caused by misuse of the 'forcemerge' command without sending a
proper message to -done.

This problem no longer occurs with xserver-xorg 1:7.1.0-2, but I don't
know if the problem was fixed in 1:7.1.0-2, or if this is because I've
just upgraded the kernel (because udev wasn't working with the previous
one).

Bug#390965: xserver-xorg: error Empty value when configuring, impossible to cancel

2006-10-03 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.1.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

In the postinst, I get a dialog saying:

Configuring xserver-xorg

Empty value

A null entry is not permitted for this value.

OK

If I type Return, Space, Esc or whatever, I always get the same dialog,
without a possibility to cancel! The only way to fix the system is to
open another shell (if possible), kill the postinst process and purge
the package (apt-get -f install would retry to configure xserver-xorg,
with the same consequence).

Re: xorg error

2006-06-26 Thread Drew Parsons

How may I resolve this error reported in my xorg log:
EE) I810(0): [dri] I830DRIScreenInit failed because of a version mismatch.
[dri] i915 kernel module version is 1.3.2 but version 1.4 or greater is
 needed.?

Probably need to upgrade your kernel. I think it's 2.6.16 or higher.
Make sure you have the latest libgl1-mesa-dri too.
