These are the guys that go hunting for open relays. They find lots of mail servers and try sending an E-mail through to a free mail account that they have; if it goes through, they know they found an open relay. >I figure they must not know what is happening. This is their encoded data. If you decode it, you'll see something that includes the IP address of the open relay. To decode it, if you feel like it, take the numbers into groups of three digits (050, 049, 054...), start Notepad, and hold down the ALT key and type the three-digit number, and let go of the ALT key. You'll see "216...", which is the real data the spammer sent. >Received: from riceville.k12.ia.us [207.28.21.3] by activatormail.com with >ESMTP > (SMTPD32-5.05) id AF4110B0084; Mon, 04 Feb 2002 17:54:41 -0600 Here, the nice spammer found an educational mail server he could abuse. -Scott ==End of original message text=== -- ActivatorMail(tm) ver.013102 Scanned for all viruses by www.activatormail.com intelligent anti-virus anti-spam service --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Thinking about about buying declude junkmail pro
Ryan, Junkmail Pro is absolutely WONDERFUL! Your users will love you for installing it on your mail server. I have over 200 domains running on my mail server with several thousand users. You don't even see a noticeable hit on the cpu performance when it is running. It is very easy to set up and it WORKS!!! I recommend the Declude Virus Pro and the Junkmail Pro because you will have the occasional user that thinks you are a communist for filtering his mail. With the Pro versions you can set it up to NOT filter for those that don't want filtering. I also installed the SortMonster 'SNIFFER'. Now my mailbox is FULL from all the "Thank You"'s I receive from my customers. I had a few setup questions and Scott ALWAYS was able to answer within a VERY short period of time (usually within 10 minutes) and was always able to get it exactly the way I wanted it. Don't hestitate, buy these products and make your customers happy. Bob Bloise System Administrator Trellis Technologies, Inc. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Thinking about about buying declude junkmail pro
We use JunkMail pro and can't imagine working without it. Not only does it support our Message Niffer product nicely (www.sortmonster.com) but it allows you to customize how rules are interpreted (actions) for different domains - this is a must since most people see spam differently. That is, one person's spam can be another person's false positive. I find administration is simple in that you configure individual domains using the same configuration file(s) that you use for the global system. Additional domains simply go in subdirectories. Docs are at http://www.declude.com/junkmail/manual.htm Pay particular attention to Per-Domain Configuration and Per-User Configuration. My opinion is that JunkMail Pro is a must-have for any IMail system. _M | -Original Message- | From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Ryan Pieken | Sent: Monday, February 04, 2002 12:01 PM | To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' | Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Thinking about about buying declude junkmail | pro | | | If any one has any documentation about junkmail pro. I second this!! I have noticed when I am cleaning it out.. i have a number of spams which have the same return email address... once I look at one of these.. I know all the rest are spam... so it would be easier to do a Shift-click and select them all.. if they were sorted by return email address... Have I stated this with out confusing anyone...
