RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Aside.

2002-05-06 Thread Charles Frolick

I feel very fortunate, all we ever recieved were emails asking how to better
use the spam tags to get the junk out of their box. Some customers didn't
even notice, even after we sent an email explaining the service, they called
wanting to know what to do about the spam, we told them to filter on the
tags. Anyone who complains about *NOT* recieving spam is most likely a
spammer and you're better off without them as a customer. If only all ISP's
took this stance, they'd have nowhere to go.

Hehe, that's nothing. I actually got several letters from real lawyers
stating that I was hindering their clients in 'exercising their right to
do business' ;) I got the best framed above my desk, it threatened to
get my governement to extradict me to the US where I'd get imprisoned
for life. I can tell you that we laughed our asses right off for days
when we received that :D

I run a zero-tolerance policy on all my mailservers, if a server sends
spam it gets blocked, period. I don't give a shit if it's AOL or some
other big provider.

I have to administrate a mailserver with over 12000 addresses
on a single domain at our ISP. I have just bought Declude JM
and I am in a reay bad mood for the last week while
trying to tweak it. I thought I would share my crown jewel of
abusive emails (It is funny and I have had hundreds):

 Begin Rant

 Dear Sunbeach,
In the United Nations general assembly(1948) declaration of
human rights ,under its civil and politcal rights states
the right to freedom of thought, speech and communication of
information and ideas. For an ISP to go about holistically
implementing anti spam on all its customers without thier
consent is a funadmental breach of thier human rights, which
allows them freedom of communication of information of ideas
and their right to privacy. A case in point,Sunbeach's anti
spam software should target specifically those subcribers who
requested this service. Microsoft Express allows e-mail to
be filtered at various levelsin some cases it deletes the
spam from the server automatically so it never reaches the
e-mail box. Let your customers up grade to Microsoft Express
and use their own private filter,so please enlighten them about this.

 end Rant

 Craig.

[Declude.JunkMail] High CPU Usage

2002-05-06 Thread Bill Anderson

I am seeing a really high CPU usage for Declude. Anywhere between 35 - 55 %
utilization. Is this normal? Is there tuning for Declude to reduce this
usage (turning off logging, IGNORE instead of WARN in default junkmail
file). Thanks.

I am running NT 4.0, Declude 1.46, and Imail 6.06.

The CPU usage you are seeing seems very high (unless you are using the
DEBUG mode, which could account for high CPU usage). How long does the
high CPU usage last?

Not only that, but what traffic are you seeing and what is your hardware?
