RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Which way to upgrade - SmarterMail or IMail
I am pleased to report we have had no problems using Declude 4.2.20 with SmarterMail 3.3.3269 on Windows Server 2003 R2 hosting 24 domains with 1600+ users. We have had no messages in the "error" folder. However; it should be noted that we have BSD/Postfix (IMGate) gateways in-between the Internet and the SmarterMail server. The gateways reject a lot of unwanted traffic, so the SmarterMail server never receives much of the malicious code and dictionary attacks that frequently occur. In our installation, both SmarterMail and Declude have been very stable. Harry Palmer -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]On Behalf Of Goran JovanovicSent: Thursday, July 13, 2006 3:58 PMTo: declude.junkmail@declude.comSubject: [Declude.JunkMail] Which way to upgrade - SmarterMail or IMail Hi All, I am currently running IMail 8.15 HF2 and Declude 4.1.0. I got new server hardware so it is time to do it all over again. I want to incorporate an address validation gateway on the same box as my Declude system. I gateway pretty much all of my traffic and host very few domains (on the same box). Since I want all this to happen on one box I need to have two IPs both of which listen on port 25, I do not want the Declude portion to be listening on a different port. So I would either need to upgrade to IMail 8.2x since it can listen on only one IP or move to SmarterMail 3.3 as it can do the same thing. Having run IMail for a while I am obviously familiar with the product and have scripts etc that have been created for it. Having said that I am not committed to IMail. I have seen the recent thread about the thousands of messages in the declude error folder with SmarterMail. What are people having luck with? Any comments would be appreciated. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: port forwarding
If you are hosting the new webmail on the same IIS server as the old IMail machine, you may do the following to allow users to continue using port 8383: On web server 1.) Start Programs>Administrative Tools>Internet Services Manager 2.) Select webmail>properties>tabWeb Site> Advanced 3.) tabMultiple Identities>Add ipaddr=(All Unassigned), TCP Port=8383, header name=blank 4.) Click OK to exit, then stop and start webmail Webmail will answer on all ip addresses:8383 No redirection necessary - I'm making the jump to a new mailserver this weekend, and I've hit two snags. I know that the answers to both of these questions are in the archives, but the search feature on the list archive appears to be broken currently. My apologies to all, both for the OT question as well as for reasking. Question one: Many, many of our users have existing shortcuts and bookmarks to webmail on our old Imail machine at the webserver:8383 address. The new machine will have the same FQDN, but the webclient won't run on 8383 any more, it will run on 80. We won't have time to track down every user and update those links, so we're looking for ways to accommodate them. What are people using for port forwarding? I tried using stunnel last night to intercept an 8383 session and redirect it to 80, with dismal results. There must be a smarter and more elegant solution. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Some way to tell which tests failed?
One way to accomplish your objectives is as follows: In your global.cfg... Assign a weight of at least 1 to each test you choose to perform Add the following line WEIGHT1 weight x x 1 0 and place the line below in your $default$junkmail WEIGHT1 WARNX-RBL-Warning: Tests-Failed-> %TESTSFAILED% (This will cause the list of all tests failed to appear in the header when at least one test fails.) Also, in global.cfg, assign weights to be used to trigger various actions, such as... WEIGHT15weight x x 15 0 WEIGHT20weight x x 20 0 WEIGHT30weight x x 30 0 and in $default$junkmail, determine actions for each weight, for example, WEIGHT15LOG WEIGHT20WARN WEIGHT30HOLD set the actions for all other performed tests in $default$junkmail to LOG Good luck! - I also use only the Weight system and would like a way to tell just what test failed. But sometimes I get lost following these threads that cross several days worth of e-mails. So if I'm redundant, please excuse my lack of attention. I would like to have one line in the e-mail header that lists all the tests that failed (for e-mails that get through) and one entry in the dec.log that lists the all the tests that failed (for those e-mails that get deleted - just in case I need to trace a problem). If you would be so kind to help me with the following: 1) write the line for $defaule$ to put in the %testsfailed% in the header. 2) put log entries in dec.log 3) and last if I'm using only the weight system, should I set all the tests to WARN or something else so my log doesn't fill up with redundant information. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] header confusion
Perhaps MSG_BODY_BEGIN MSG_BODY_END or MSG_BODY_TOP MSG_BODY_BOTTOM - By the way, can anyone think of a better names than HEADER/FOOTER when dealing with text added to the body of the E-mail? That *is* very confusing (especially when trying to explain it "The HEADER action adds a header (no, not a real header...)". -Scott --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list.
