[Declude.JunkMail] Declude Console (Update)

2002-09-30 Thread John Tolmachoff

Ok, I am now back in the office.

There were two deccon.exe in task manager.

There was one Declude Console window open as expected.

There was a error window open that said the following:

Couldn;t create file map2; already exist.

That is the exact message, including punctuation marks, except the
quotes.

When I clicked on ok, it closed as well as the second blank Declude
Console window.

Ideas?

That's a message that is displayed by an older version of the Declude
console -- if you download the latest one (from
http://www.declude.com/release/160/deccon.exe ), it won't display that
message, and will properly handle multiple processes (and does has real
better grammer and doesnt do puncuation too bad; neither).

How can I tell what version of deccon.exe I am running now?
Is there an outstanding benefit to upgrading to the latest
version? Other than the grammar upgrades ;-)
I'm currently running Declude 1.61.

The Declude console does not have a version number.

If you do not see that Couldn;t create file map2; already exist. message,
then you don't need to worry about making sure you have the latest version
(if you do, upgrading would be a good idea, but isn't essential).

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Declude Console (Update)

2002-09-30 Thread John Tolmachoff

OK, that did it.

Comments/questions:

Could you include version information, both in the About box and in the
file properties? This would make it easy to identify which version is
being run, and can be compared to the latest version.

You have a Help button on the menu, why not just remove it?

In regards to the Terminal services issue, I have been thinking about
it. Terminal services will only show what has been setup to run for all
users. Deccon.exe is called by declude.exe, and therefore it kind of
makes sense that it will not show up in a terminal session. Other way of
looking at it is that deccon.exe is not an installed program, but one
that is only called. Maybe if it was installed or made into to 2 parts,
on the current version and then a second that is a reporting window that
gets installed, then the current version passes the actual information
for display to the installed version that is set up to run for all
users.

Unfortunately, we just don't have the resources right now to do that.

Understood. Feature request? :))

Yes. :)

FWIW, I don't know if it will work, but there is an application called
Firedaemon that will install almost any executable file as a Windows
Service. It is extremely versatile and easy.

Check it out at http://www.firedaemon.com/
