Easy, instead of "mail forwarding" use "auto-responders" but, don't have a
response
Which the web-messaging won't let you SETUP, but you can view

The actual way is via the filenames in the user folder
"mail forwarding" creates a file called
D:\imail\domain.com\users\Forward.ima
(which contains the destiation address)

Instead, use PER MAILBOX forwarding
D:\imail\domain.com\users\main.fwd

Unless there is a 'spam.fwd' the SPAM mailbox will be retained, while all
'main' mail will be forwarded. (rename forward.ima to main.fwd)

Scott or whomever,

Can you think of any way based on this, to force IMail to retain the message
in the sub-mailbox instead of forwarding it? I don't see a way, but I
figured I'd ask.

Thanks

Here is where I was getting confused...

If you use the MAILBOX action, for example:
CATCHALLMAILS MAILBOX spam

...when you use this action on an emaill address that has Mail Forwarding
turned on, it will still forward the message even though Declude attempts to
drop it into the sub-mailbox. I guess that's an IMail thing.

Turning on declude debugging shows that it does in fact attempt to put it
into the sub-mailbox...

In that case, I would suggest using the debug mode, which should help clear
this up. To use the debug mode, you can change the "LOGLEVEL LOW" line in
\IMail\Declude\global.cfg to "LOGLEVEL DEBUG". Then, send an E-mail
through like you were before, and then switch back to "LOGLEVEL LOW". You
can then E-mail me the \IMail\spool\dec.log file (as an attachment),
and I can take a look at it to see what is happening.

Yep, I was careful about that. Since I put different text into the warning for the
CATCHALLEMAIL test in each $default$.junkmail I was able to reliably tell which
configuration was being used for each email.

I was very confused up until then, so using the CATCHALLEMAIL test was very handy and
a good general debugging idea.

Aaron.

What is the primary name for some.domain? If it is "mail.some.domain"
(with "some.domain" as a domain alias), then the mail.some.domain file
would be used (\IMail\Declude\mail.some.domain\$default$.JunkMail).

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] aliases & mail forwarding

2002-08-28 Thread Aaron Roydhouse

I think there is a gotcha with aliases, this is what I believe I observed (Declude
1.53, IMail 7.1):

If you have an alias [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you define it as a username, e.g. "bar" then
the $default$.junkmail for domain some.domain will be used.

However if have an alias [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you define it as an email address at the
same domain, e.g. "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" then the $default$.junkmail for *primary IMail
domain* will be used (the default $default$.junkmail if you will).

In both cases the email is delivered to the same .mbx file, but the $default$.junkmail
used is different.

The default default is used, even if you have $default$.junkmail specifically for the
primary IMail domain.

Scott - have I got this straight?

If you want to replicate this, put a CATCHALLEMAILS in each $default$.junkmail with
different text, and then send email through aliases defined in different ways and look
at the headers.

Aaron.

In this case, it would be the someotherdomain.com's.

In this case, it would be mydomain.com.

A good way to think of it is that whichever user has an .mbx file will be
the one used for the Declude JunkMail config file.

[Declude.JunkMail] aliases & mail forwarding

2002-08-27 Thread Bill B .

I am trying to understand what Action definitions are used by Declude for email sent
to an email alias and also for email sent to an account which forwards elsewhere.
Specifically...

1) If an email is sent to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", which is an alias that points to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]", which domain's $default$.junkmail file will be used?

2) If an email is sent to "[EMAIL PROTECTED], which is a real account that has Mail
Forwarding turned on to forward to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", which domain's
$default$.junkmail file will be used?

Thanks,

Bill
