JP,

Thanks for the information. I'm confused a bit, unfortunately not a new
experience for me. :(( When I Click on the Schedule button under The
Updater, I get the option to either Cancel or Save a schedule. Do I need to
clear the check-box ""Show results of update"? I'll try it and see if it
works as needed.

Thanks again,
David

[Declude.Virus] DSN:version 1.40 beta install

2002-02-20 Thread David

I just want to confirm the upgrade/install process for V1.40. Is it just -
delete Imail\declude.exe and replace it with the latest version, and then
stop/start the SMTP Service? It can't be this easy, can it? It seems to
work, but wanted to double check.

I also saw somewhere a command to determine the current running version, but
I can't find it now. Anyone have it handy? Or is the value in the
installed.bin file sufficient proof?

Thanks - all the help here is appreciated!

David,

You don't have to stop and restart the SMTP service, just replace the
old declude.exe file with the new one.

It's actually easier than that. You don't even have to delete the old one,
or stop/restart the SMTP service. All you need to do is copy in the new
Declude.exe file.

You can type "declude -diag" from a command prompt, and the version will
appear on the first line of the output.

Re: [Declude.Virus] OT: McAfee vs. Symantec NAV

2002-02-20 Thread Jerry Murdock

I prefer the Trend product line over both McAfee and Norton.

In general, fewer workstation problems, fewer server problems, fewer
deployment problems.

Trend recently upgraded their OfficeScan product (the desktop scanning
solution) from 3.54 to 5.0. We are responsible in some form for 10+ sites,
1000+ users and had ZERO problems with the upgrade. Not one question, not one
failed upgrade, not one crashed system.

This was an upgrade of both the client and the server-side IIS based
management system.

The really sweet part is that we didn't do a thing. Both the clients and the
servers upgraded automatically without so much as a button click.

No, because if the original E-mail contains a virus, you would end up
spreading it further. :)

Isn't the bannotify only for exception extensions, not necessarily viruses?

Also, just looking for getting the main text, not any attachments. If you forwarded,
or in my case returned to the sender, the original text of the message it would let
them know which message to resend...

Yes, but the reason that the banned file extensions were added to Declude
Virus was to help prevent the spread of viruses. So it is assumed that if
a file is banned because of the extension, there's a decent chance that it
contains a virus.

The subject should be enough to know for sure. But we do want to add a
variable that will allow you to insert the text portion of the E-mail,
which sounds like what you are looking for.
