Re: Need some DIRA setup help
I guess I haven't set up this particular computer to build the Derby docs before, and I'm having a little trouble. FWIW, I tried on my Windows computer, too, doing essentially the same steps, and got essentially the same failure. The Windows computer is also running JDK 1.8. So I guess it's not specific to my Fedora machine. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed. bryan
Need some DIRA setup help
Hi all, I guess I haven't set up this particular computer to build the Derby docs before, and I'm having a little trouble. I'm running a recent Fedora Linux, with OpenJDK 1.8.0 I am following the instructions at: http://db.apache.org/derby/manuals/dita.html I see that, in my docs/trunk/lib, there is: xercesImpl-2.7.1.jar xml-apis-1.3.02.jar as well as many other jars, etc. But when I run 'ant html.ref', it whirs and hums for a while, then fails. I'm attaching the output of my build; maybe someone can notice what I'm doing wrong? thanks, bryan build.out Description: Binary data
[Java DB - testing] Failure nightly trunk (rev 1753333)
Java DB testing and reporting infrastructure. Failure nightly trunk (rev 175) There were 62 failures.
Re: [Java DB - testing] Failure continuous trunk (rev 1753333)
So the message from "ingemar.ab...@oracle.com" is not from one of the systems that is open to the public? As far as I know that is true at this time. I was concerned about the 16 failures message in that email and wanted to take a look. Several of those corporate build systems have been reporting failures for a long time. Those systems run tests across many different operating systems, and even many different versions of those operating systems, and include some fairly unusual deployment platforms. They also run tests using a variety of JDK versions and vendors. So, the last time I heard details, a number of the failures seen by those systems are on very unusual configurations that probably wouldn't be considered mainstream these days (but are important to those communities). It was for these reasons that we removed (broken) links to those systems from the Derby website as part of https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-6886 last spring. If you have a peek at that issue, you can find links to some mailing list discussions that might be useful. bryan

I did track down the public Jenkins testing builds through those links but saw that they were clean so I was wondering what that email was referring to. -Original Message- From: Bryan Pendleton [mailto:bpendleton.de...@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2016 9:38 AM To: derby-dev@db.apache.org Subject: Re: [Java DB - testing] Failure continuous trunk (rev 175) On 7/19/2016 5:57 AM, Bergquist, Brett wrote: > Where does one find this build job so that the failures can be looked at? > Hi Brett, It's a little bit tricky. You can find information about the Apache build and test system here: http://db.apache.org/derby/derby_tests.html If you follow those links, you can find the Apache-run Jenkins builds. Those builds are currently clean. There are also build-and-test systems maintained by (at least) teams at Oracle, and teams at IBM, but neither of those systems are open to the general public at this time. bryan Canoga Perkins 20600 Prairie Street Chatsworth, CA 91311 (818) 718-6300 This e-mail and any attached document(s) is confidential and is intended only for the review of the party to whom it is addressed.
