Re: Installation Problem With Apache Derby

2009-03-01 Thread Francois Orsini
Hi Amee,

I believe Rick already answered on your previous and similar email.

See
http://www.nabble.com/Installation-problem-with-Apache-Derby-td22247294.html

You may have missed it.

Are you trying to build Derby? If you just want to install Derby (without
building it from the source files), you can do it using the 'bin'
distribution off this website and you would not need JDK 1.4 for that.

Cheers

 Hi,

I am trying to install apache derby version 10.4.2.0 using source
distribution. This distribution equires jdk 1.4.x. I am not being able
to get the source of jdk-1.4.x as sun is not supported this version.

Can you please tell me that is it possible to install derby without jdk
1.4.x or how can I get the source of jdk 1.4.x?

 Thanks and Regards,
 Amee

Hi Amee,

Don't be discouraged by the EOL status of JDK1.4. You can still download
it. You just have to fill in a short form. Then you will receive an
email telling you where you can get the JDK. Here's the form you need to
fill out: https://www2.sun.de/dct/forms/reg_us_2402_929_0.jsp You can
reach this form from the top-level JDK 1.4 page:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

The next version of Derby (10.5, due out this spring) will not have this
dependency on an EOL'd JDK.

Hope this helps,
-Rick
