Re: [libreoffice-design] getting larger set of colors that the standard that comes with LO

2014-02-28 Thread Kracked_P_P---webmaster

I am slowly working on my color list file standard.soc.
Health reasons stopped me for a bit, or at least slowed down my work cycle.

I know that we can add custom colors internal to the Tools Options
LibreOffice Colors.
I did that originally when there were some specific colors used in
brochure templates going around last year.

Yes, a color pricker for Writer might help some people. Since I do not
use Draw, or rarely, I use a color picker from a different graphics
package and write down the RGB Hex code and then add it manually to my
color list. That is what I use to do. Still do it sometimes. But I
have been working on adding a set of predefined colors and their shading
from the dark color to their off white color. That gives the user
some more option outside of the color picker option.

As for Tracking 32 colors, I am not sure about that. I do not track
colors, just offer the user more options than a small set of colors. Of
course there are people who think this is a waste of my time. I do not
think so. I had one person complain about listing 100 shades of gray -
i.e. nearly black to nearly white. Since we have some formatting options
for lines, column borders, etc., to set the gray level, then offering a
visual of those shades of gray might be useful.

I am currently taking standard colors and making some shading options
for them that works. The problem is figuring out the proper steps so I
am not offering 20 or more shades. I have some colors that have 7 +/-
shades already in my color list, but I want to create the same thing for
other colors that I do not have currently.

Is it me or does this, as an interface, look like it's getting out of

control.

Might I suggest it is time to allow
1) A default 4 rows of 8, a 32 basic color set.
2) Above that, rows of 8 of Last Colors Used. Last Colors Used
should be selectable in 'Defaults' to the multiples of 8 up to a maximum of
32 (or some number).
3) At the bottom a click to see More Colors... and borrow the 'Color
Picker' from LibreOffice Draw.
(Side Comment: still don't know why Color Picker isn't
universally default with last used colors below in LibreOffice)

Tracking 32 colors for me is well into the I'm getting lost realm in a
layout. I respectfully ask Kracked_P_P for input on this.

I think this might keep down the amount of load time involved.

The question of weather remembered Last Colors Used is universal or
document only is interesting?
Also, how it should be organized, by creation sequence or hue or
saturation?

Is a good idea?

I hope this helps.

Thanks

I just added 95 shades to my version of the color list.
Reds
Blues
Yellows
Greens
Purples

and will be working on more as time permits.

Hope to have a new version to be placed on the cloud folders in a few
weeks.

I am sorry to say, but the trend towards using three and more typefaces
in the logo is not a good one. (Safwan's logos use two, Eleonora's seem
to use four, yours [KJ's] uses three).

Then it would look like (k-j_Bern3):

I wouldn't actually mind if the logo lost the Helvetica part of years
past and was exclusively in Vegur.

Then it would look like (k-j_Bern_Vegur-only):
