How would you feel included? Of course your input is very appreciated.
About the mockups: It makes sense to start UI discussions from scratch. That
means to figure out what is the scope and which requirements are needed for the
users. If you or someone else start with a more or less final solution it not
only hinders creativity (sorry for being a psychologist ;-) ) but we would
discuss the proposal and miss features.
Some examples for the recent topic (all in terms of yes/no decisions based on
good reasoning):
* Load and save from ftp, ssh, webdav, shared folders etc.* Integration of CMS
into file dialog
* Live synchonization (at least we need to check on save if the original
document was changed meanwhile)
Just some brainstorming from my naiv view.
PS: (Phone call let Sophie slip in) We discussed whether or not to use Google
and decided pro since it is the most comfortable option. I'm fine with Etherpad
too, for instance.

[libreoffice-design] Leaving a link here…

2015-03-11 Thread Adolfo Jayme Barrientos
Since the weekly meeting process seems to be different now (no pad, no
meeting minutes, no open documents where one can leave notes for the
rest) and I’m not able to join calls because of other obligations... I
just wanted to leave here some screenshots for the online services
integration on the newly released beta of Office 2015 for Mac, which
you may or may not use for “prior art” analyses and design proposals.

(You should know GDocs as you’re using it know makes me feel excluded.
Hopefully somebody will care)

Re: [libreoffice-design] Some Feedback on the Metrics Tender

2015-03-11 Thread Stefan Knorr

Hi there,

(yes I still exist)

Just a quick opinion-free comment on what Mozilla does with Firefox, re:

On 03/10/2015 02:07 PM, Björn Balazs wrote:

The success of this overall project is closely related to the percentage of
users that participate. I do not question the opt-in mechanism - this follows
our free software philosophy (even though Firefox e.g. does this differently
IIRC).

For the Telemetry feature Mozilla uses:

+ Opt-out for users of Nightly, Developer Edition (née Aurora)
and Beta, with a first-start information bar being displayed

+ Opt-in for users of Firefox Release, with a first-start information
  bar being displayed

Mozilla has two other similar phone-home functionalities, both of which
seem to be always opt-out: Health Report (for performance data) and
Crash Reporter (allows you to choose not to send a crash report each
time anyway). There is also the add-on block list (plays a large in role
in determining the number of Firefox users), which is hard to opt out of
at all and safe browsing which downloads data (and sends cookies) to
Google which too is opt-out.

[libreoffice-design] Design Session at 2015-13-06 at 1pm UTC about CMIS integration

2015-03-11 Thread Jay Philips
Hi All,

This friday we'll be having a design session on improving the visibility
of Libreoffice's ability to connect to online document storage services
like Google Drive. Details of this discussion can be found in this
google docs document - http://bit.ly/1b1wvb3

We had a fun design session last friday for the redesign of the Entries
tab of the Index/Table of Contents dialog, and details of that
discussion and a new mockup can be found in this google docs document -
http://bit.ly/1b1wvb3

Look forward to seeing you.

Regards,
Jay

Unfortunately I do have an appointment this Friday. Do you plan these sessions
every Friday at the same time? Then I will add this to my calendar, so I can
hopefully make it for the next sessions.

Have fun,
Björn
