I don't like that idea, because the Status Bar already has not enough
space to show the essential things correctly
I might have more screen real-estate than others and hadn't realized
it's a problem.
I did notice that when shrinking the main window, Status Bar does not
entirely go under the Pages Panel which is real-estate lost. That may be
because the panel is right justified and not left or center.

Then again, if the Status Bar where a part of right side selection of
Panes and set as default to display it would be to the user to maximize
their screen usage.

.

2. Stack Status Bar above Properties panel. Eliminates lost space on
bottom of window and is one less place to move eyes to.

A "Status Bar" is always at the bottom. Do you know any application
where it is not at the bottom?

While true, this moves it to "heads up" location.
My glasses probably have a lot to do with it. Focus stays with
left/right eye movement and changes when looking down.

3. Move "Tabs" to old Status Bar location centered.Allows for more
Tabs and/or larger text of Tabs.

I would like to see, that custom configure of the font size is
possible, but disagree, that another location would be better.
Now that I think about it a little more, it might be better to move the
"Tabs" above as well.
Never look down. The Tabs bar is thin and wouldn't take up much room.
This maybe a habit from using Lotus Word Pro years ago where Tabs are
above like in cabinet drawer.

Maybe it should just be an option. Give screen geography to the user.

4. Tabs have a "Visible" interaction. When making multi-level
drawing, quickly turning on/off layers assists in selection and
correction process.Using one click instead of three would be a
great time saver.Suggest Open/Closed Eye icon.

I agree, that the Tabs should get more functions. Ctrl-Click and
Alt-Click are candidates for more function. I would like to see
locked/unlocked. The current visible/invisible is already an
improvement compared to old OOo. For more discussions on that topic read

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89130
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90244

Thanks for the reference.

5. The ability to Flip Pages panel with Properties panel.Being more
comfortable as a left handed person would be nice.

I'm not sure, whether I understand you. It is already possible to drag
the "Page Pane" to the right and the "Sidebar" to the left. What are
you looking for?

Allow Properties to the left, Page to the right.
I spend more time using the Properties Panel than Pages Panel.
Since I'm a left to right reader, I go more naturally to that position
than right.

Kind regards
Regina

Thanks for responding.
Have a good weekend.

Paul

Re: [libreoffice-design] getting larger set of colors that the standard that comes with LO

2014-02-28 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky

Sorry to hear of your health problems.

Hope things improve.

cycle.

I know that we can add custom colors internal to the Tools Options
LibreOffice Colors.
I did that originally when there were some specific colors used in
brochure templates going around last year.

Yes, a color pricker for Writer might help some people. Since I do
not use Draw, or rarely, I use a color picker from a different
graphics package and write down the RGB Hex code and then add it
manually to my color list. That is what I use to do. Still do it
sometimes. But I have been working on adding a set of predefined
colors and their shading from the dark color to their off white
color. That gives the user some more option outside of the color
picker option.

As for Tracking 32 colors, I am not sure about that. I do not track
colors, just offer the user more options than a small set of colors.
Of course there are people who think this is a waste of my time. I do
not think so. I had one person complain about listing 100 shades of
gray - i.e. nearly black to nearly white. Since we have some
formatting options for lines, column borders, etc., to set the gray
level, then offering a visual of those shades of gray might be useful.

I am currently taking standard colors and making some shading
options for them that works. The problem is figuring out the proper
steps so I am not offering 20 or more shades. I have some colors that
have 7 +/- shades already in my color list, but I want to create the
same thing for other colors that I do not have currently.

I definitely agree.
However, the problem is that we don't have a developer to work on this.
We've been trying to get custom colors for ages.
If you know a dev that would be interested, let me know. :)

Hello

There was a lengthy discussion on us...@global.libreoffice.org about

It was suggested I forward my comments to you.

Is it me or does this, as an interface, look like it's getting out of

control.

Might I suggest it is time to allow
1) A default 4 rows of 8, a 32 basic color set.
2) Above that, rows of 8 of Last Colors Used. Last Colors Used
should be selectable in 'Defaults' to the multiples of 8 up to a
maximum of

32 (or some number).
3) At the bottom a click to see More Colors... and borrow the 'Color
Picker' from LibreOffice Draw.
(Side Comment: still don't know why Color Picker isn't
universally default with last used colors below in LibreOffice)

Tracking 32 colors for me is well into the I'm getting lost realm
in a

layout. I respectfully ask Kracked_P_P for input on this.

I think this might keep down the amount of load time involved.

The question of weather remembered Last Colors Used is universal or
document only is interesting?
Also, how it should be organized, by creation sequence or hue or
saturation?

Is a good idea?

I hope this helps.

Thanks
