You can absolutely sign up for a Fedora account right now at https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts There are different teams within that system. The Fedora design team requires that you submit one piece of work for critique by the group from our work item list on https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/report/1 We grant you membership in the team group in the account system upon successful completion of the task. [Design-team] F12 Final wallpaper polish
Hi, Just as a head's up, myself, Nicu, Ian, and some other folks had some discussion in IRC this morning about applying some polish to the wallpaper for F12. You can see some of the work-in-progress here: http://duffy.fedorapeople.org/art/f12/oct%2020/ I'd love to hear your thoughts. I think we want to stay with the order chaos concept; Nicu and I brainstormed a bit and I started taking this direction where you have close-together/orderly bokeh bursting out onto the left: http://duffy.fedorapeople.org/art/f12/oct%2020/rain11.png I would love to hear what you think - could this work for F12? How could we push it further? Thanks, ~m ___ design-team mailing list design-team@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/design-team

This reworking goes off of the bokeh that's already present in the various splashes etc. so they shouldn't clash. ~m ___ design-team mailing list design-team@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/design-team

Here's some tips to help you work through the task: - currently our banners are speced for 200px by 100px. Here's an example: http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/banners/f11release.png - they typically have rounded corners - The font we use is MgOpen Modata. It's available in Fedora with 'yum install mgopen-fonts -y'. Hi Mairin, As others said, turn a little down for the chaos ;) And make it more calm to look at. I know there may be a desire to make it more grey but I like it the way it is now, crisp and catching[1], rather than depressing[2]. I'm using it now and you can easily distinguish the background from the windows even on the busy areas. I made a different way of creating the specs which have uneven edges to make them realistic[3]. These take the image as a pattern and form circles with the pattern as a stroke and add blur. Makes them look like small lenses. Under those there are also the ones which are whole circles made from the pattern. (unfortunately inkscape has made individual copies of all patterns so the file is huge) [1] http://duffy.fedorapeople.org/art/f12/oct%2020/rain11.png [2] http://duffy.fedorapeople.org/art/f12/oct%2020/rain.png [3] http://www.cs.manchester.ac.uk/~brejc8/temp/specs.svg ___ design-team mailing list design-team@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/design-team
