[Design-team] Looking for Design Suite (Co-) Maintainers

2010-06-22 Thread Sebastian Dziallas
Hi all,

I've been the maintainer of the Fedora Design Suite [1] for the past
release cycle [2], which has also been part of the F13 talking points
[3]. However, I'll be starting college at the end of the summer and
I'm suspecting that I might have a little less time then. Hence, I'm
looking at handing the Design Suite off. I'd be very happy to walk
people through the build process and to help in case trouble arises,
though.

Please drop me a line if you're interested (or ping me in IRC -- I'm
sdziallas there).

Sebastian I will be more than happy to co-maintain the Design Suite as
I believe it has great potential for our community and for the Libre
Graphics community as well.

Count me in, and I will be in touch with you through IRC :)

[Design-team] Fedora Twitter, Identi.ca background

2010-06-22 Thread Jef van Schendel
Hi everyone,

I took up this ticker after the meeting today:

Need a background for the @fedora twitter account.
https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/136

Right now, it has the regular wallpaper as a background image, but it
doesn't tile (see http://twitter.com/fedora).

I took the wallpaper sources and gimp'd a smaller, tileable image:
http://schendje.fedorapeople.org/TwitterBack/back.jpg. You can see how it'll
look here: http://schendje.fedorapeople.org/TwitterBack/backgroundTest.htm

I tried to keep it kind of bland, so it doesn't distract much and tiles
nicely without looking weird.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions/ideas?

Looks great, well done! I think we need to step up our presence on the
microblogs. Already talking to the Marketing Team about that :)

[Design-team] Hackergotchi Google SoC labels

2010-06-22 Thread Jef van Schendel
Hi guys,

As described in this ticket: https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/55,
Planet GNOME uses special badges to show who's participating in Google's
Summer of Code, and here on Planet Fedora they had FUDCon ribbons to use
directly on the hackergotchis.

I'm now making a template for future use. What I have in mind is a simple
Inkscape file that everyone can open up, and then change the text and the
color easily, before adding it to his or her hackergotchi. I've made some
simple mock-ups here:
http://schendje.fedorapeople.org/HackergotchiBadges/mockup1.png (source is
at http://schendje.fedorapeople.org/HackergotchiBadges/try2.svg). This is an
example of how they would look on Planet F:
http://schendje.fedorapeople.org/HackergotchiBadges/example1.png

My intention is to keep them very simple, because space is limited. The
middle three columns of big badges are 100px wide, which is pretty much
the maximum size for a hackergotchi.

What do you think so far? I'd be happy to try out and implement some other
ideas. :)
