I think any concept done by one of us will refer to some idea ever produced.
All art (or design) awakens abstract thought or remember something that has

Hi, all!

I have started work on an idea for a wallpaper. It's pixel art. This is
something completely new for me and kind of an experiment but I always
wanted to do it. I can't promise I've bitten off more than I can chew,
though. This might all end in tears ;)

Here's a little preview... Working on this is actually oddly relaxing. :)

Kyle, I like a lot the abstractness of this concept. Can you add a shade

Which apps have you used to create it? Are sources available for the

As for the deadline, AFAIK we have not yet the dates set, so it will be
announced later, but it will probably be some time before Alpha
(probably something between 1 and 3 weeks before Alpha freeze to give us
enough time to decide on a final concept, to put it in enough shape for
  alpha and to package it).

One of the suggestions for visualizing the theme for Laughlin was,

Something that can illustrate the emergence concept, like multiple
objects combined to create a new one (more complex).

The work of Robert Laughlin, who was awarded the 1998 Nobel Prize in
physics for his explanation of the fractional quantum Hall effect.
Moreover he argues for emergence which is a concept that says 'The whole
is more than the sum of its parts.' Fedora is more than the sum of its
software.

Visually I think this concept could make a nice theme. It could be cool
to use objects or phenomena from nature to illustrate it. e.g., many
drops of water making a stream or whatnot. Do you have any ideas on how
we might visualize this?

BTW Tatica put together some mockups around a atomic theme:
http://tatica.fedorapeople.org/Themes/F14/

I think the backdrop of atomos.svg is nice - with a bit of tweaking it
could make a nice abstract pattern.

Here you have some mockups for white, black and blue t-shirts:

 Once side print:

 Front and Back print:
 http://tatica.fedorapeople.org/Themes/F14/floral-mosaic-tshirt-1.png

 Sources: http://tatica.fedorapeople.org/Themes/F14/floral-mosaic-tshirt.svg

Also if you have more ideas, just let me know! (thanks Mo for your help :D )

Could you please create a version of the second black
floral-mosaic-tshirt.png with 'FUDCon Zurich' instead of the Fedora
Logo as like this one:

https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/1/19/Artwork_T%282d%29Shirt_fudcon-boston-2009-2_design.png

(Not sure where to find the SVG sources, maybe Mo knows more :)

Thanks in advance

Kyle, I like a lot the abstractness of this concept. Can you add a shade
of blue to it, to match our traditional visual style?

You made a very good observation.

Laugh / Lin

and Lin was many times used regarding Linux... there was even an old
loadlin.exe and probably many other situations. Dangerous road, but I
would assume that no one will turn that to us as free ammunition.
Personally I do like the chosen name.

 Hi all,

so the codename for F14 has been decided -- Laughlin, so it's the right
time to let the F14 Artwork's ball rolling. I hereby announce that
suggestions, design concepts and WIP wallpapers implementing this name
are welcomed both here and on the following wiki page:
 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F14_Artwork_Theme_Concepts

Discussion is preferred here, but each submission (supposing there's
also a preview/WIP included) needs to be both uploaded to wiki and
announced on this mailing list. Please use only openly licensed works
when uploading to wiki, sources are preferred in SVG for vector based
images and XCF for raster based ones.

As for the deadline, AFAIK we have not yet the dates set, so it will be
announced later, but it will probably be some time before Alpha
(probably something between 1 and 3 weeks before Alpha freeze to give us
