[Bug 28712] gdm loses focus when mouse pointer is outside window (when initially started)

2006-01-16 Thread Tollef Fog Heen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28712

Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:

My setup is a Xinerama setup, GDM therefore (correctly) displays the login
screen on one of my displays.

When GDM first starts up, the mouse pointer is just outside the window.
The gdm window doesn't have focus, so I have to nudge the mouse a little
bit so the pointer points inside the gdm login screen and focus is
automatically given to the username field.

This used to work correctly in Breezy, but is broken in current Dapper.

Hi,

just wanted to tell that I also experience this same exact behaviour on my amd64
breezy. I can repeat this at all times on GIMP with File Save. I created a
simple test app that only spawns file selector but it works as expected. This
affects quite a few programs on my Gnome-desktop so I hope the reason is found
soon. Meanwhile I'll try to debug and if I find something I'll write it here..

Thanks for your hard work, appreciate it.

[Bug 28714] Window menu is different than the one presented by Metacity

2006-01-16 Thread Celso Pinto
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28714

Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
If you right-click on a window title bar, the menu includes items like
Move to Workspace Right and/or Move to Workspace Down, but if you
right-click on a window icon(?) on the gnome-panel, the menu that pops
up doesn't include these entries which are quite useful.

This is inconsistent behaviour and it would be nice to have the Move to
Workspace... menu items included in the gnome-panel window menu.

[Bug 28715] Search tab is useless, make it a search bar

2006-01-16 Thread Celso Pinto
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28715

Affects: devhelp (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Having the search box/list in a separate tab makes browsing the devel-
docs quite difficult. I've noticed that search already auto-completes
(meaning, when you search for something, the results list is immediately
filled with results).

Given that devhelp has a huge toolbar for a couple of buttons, a better
use for the toolbar would be to have a search box, similar to a
browser's location bar where the user can type the search keywords and
the dropdown would show the matches.

Devhelp is very, very useful for new developers like myself and it could
use some overhaul.

I just clicked the launcher now, which typing in a maximised Firefox

[Bug 28700] nautilus crashes on start up with nautilus-python

2006-01-16 Thread Niels Abspoel
Public bug report changed:

Comment:
I'm running dapper drake, and just updated nautilus and nautilus-
python...

nautilus version: 2.13.4-0ubuntu1
nautilus-python version : 3.0-3ubuntu1

The way I found out was to remove some nautilus packages at a time and
ran nautilus again.

first nautilus-open-terminal
didn't work, installed it again.
then nautilus-script-manager
didn't work,
then nautilus-python
and lo and behold, it didn't crash anymore.

so it could only be nautilus-python stopped working with the new
nautilus package.
