[Bug 30822] gtk.Button unable to be clicked after becoming sensitive
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30822 Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Hi, I have found a bug in GTK+ in which you are unable to click buttons that have changed from insensitive to sensitive. To be able to click on them you must move the pointer outside the button and then enter it again. I am using Ubuntu 5.10 (libgtk2.0-0 version 2.8.6-0ubuntu2.1). Repeatable: Always Use case: An application has buttons that become insensitive after being clicked due to a busy state machine. They become sensitive when the request is processed - if this is very fast then the user cannot click a second time without having to move the mouse outside of the button first. Examples: Find attached a pygyk and C program that exhibit this behaviour. This is probably related to another bug in which occurs when buttons are created under the pointer. For instance when logging out of Gnome I have become so used to moving the mouse to the OK button that when it appears it is created under the mouse pointer. You then need to move the pointer outside the button then return it to be able to click. [Bug 30822] gtk.Button unable to be clicked after becoming sensitive
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30822 Comment: I think this is a duplicate of Gnome bugs 56070, 327463 (and the piles of duplicate bugs they keep closing). I don't know enough about the internals of GTK+ but the comments on Gnome Bugzilla indicate the problem may be to do with the button X window not receiving events when it is insensitive - so shouldn't it always receive events and just not act on them when the user has made it insensitive? Thus the button keeps the sensitive state and GDK/X keep processing events as normal. Note about Malone/Launchpad - It is very hard to find existing bugs on main page - I want to just type in GTK+ somewhere and get a list of them. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 30868] gam_server uses too much CPU power after having copied a file
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30868 Affects: gamin (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I am using Kubuntu Dapper with the newest updates installed and whenever I try to copy a file using Krusader, gam_server uses about 10% of my CPU at a constant level. This will stop if I quit Krusader but reoccurs if I restart Krusader. When I kill the process gam_server and restart Krusader, the CPU usage is ok but again jumps to 10% if I copy a file again. This also happens after I start amaroK. What I also noticed is that gam_server often uses up to 10% of my CPU when I am just surfing the web. The usage drops immediately but these peaks exist. This hasn't occured under Breezy and I also compiled my own version of gamin using the source file from gamin's homepage. None of these problems occured with my own version of gamin. Then I don't even notice the process in top because it doesn't even use the CPU very much. So I draw the conclusion that something must be wrong with the ubuntu or debian specific package of gamin. [Bug 30870] Drag and Drop Behavior
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30870 Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: There are some aspects of the Drag and Drop behavior in GNOME that are very annoying. Many times, when clicking on an object and moving the mouse quickly, it will be attached to the cursor (using the not-so-appealing document icon appended to the cursor theme), even while you are not holding the mouse button down. If you are not holding down the mouse button, there should be no drag actions. I often times find myself with an object attached to my cursor without any easy solution to get it off. I see this a lot in mozilla-thunderbird, when scanning through messages (click, move, click, move). I also see this a lot when dealing with menu entires. As a click on an icon and move the mouse, the shortcut is appended to my cursor even while I am not clicking the mouse. Less importantly, instead of appending a not-so-attractive document icon to the cursor, would it be a better solution to add a document cursor while dragging to the cursor theme? -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 30467] Electricsheep screensaver does not show up in screensaver dialog
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30467 Comment: This is a duplicate of the bug I already submitted... but no one has confirmed that one yet and this one is better stated... so yeah, I see this problem as well. To slightly expand on it, electric-sheep is installed from the repository, gnome-screensaver is also installed. I'm running (now) from a clean install of Dapper Flight 3 with all current updates as of this writing. xscreensaver package is NOT installed. If I install xscreensaver along-side gnome-screensaver, electric-sheep shows up as an option in xscreensaver but it still a no-show in gnome-screensaver. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 28840] rhythmbox dies when trying to play to USB soundcard
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28840 Comment: I'm having this problem as well... and it's not Rhythmbox or mplayer... something is wrong with ALSA and USB sound. I removed my Soundblaster Audigy and reinstalled Dapper with my only sound device being my USB Griffin iMic Soundcard which works fine under Windows on the same machine. It appears to be properly detected as everything shows it listed as my sound device but nothing, including Gnome (gnome sounds) is able to access it and I always see the same errors I see in other reports above: unable to set hw-parameters: Broken pipe -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 30757] dapper gnome-session linked against libdbus-1.so.1
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30757 Comment: *sigh* all my fault. Apparently we're both blind though. :) The culprit was the avahi libs in /usr/local. I'd built these before upgrading and they were linked against the old dbus. ld.so was picking up these versions over the ones from dapper in /usr/lib and so the problem. Thanks for the help debugging, removing those stale libraries resolved the problem. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
