[Bug 31295] Busy cursor flickers alot
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31295 Comment: Ok, after much digging and research it turns out that this seems to be a bug with Nvidia and their drivers. It's the hardware cursor that is borked in some way. Setting SWCursor to "true" fixes the issue... for normal dekstop use, but then it doesn't work in any accelerated environment such as video or 3D. I guess that means that the bug is invalid for this package at least, sorry to have bothered (but thankful for any tips). Still, perhaps a non-animated alternative could be provided by default as stop-gap? -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 29050] 6.04 (Dapper) doesn't recognize working printer
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29050 Comment: Same here. USB locally-atteched Epson CX5100 which is fine under Breezy. HAL and lsusb show it in all its glory, but the new printer dialogue on GNOME and KDE can't find it. I shouldn't have to use localhost:631 in the 21st century, but there isn't even a USB port option there. This is being posted about at half-hourly intervals on the Dapper forum by GDE and KDE users, and still no response. Can we make it critical, please, and have an update? I suspect that Gutenprint has a hand in the problem. [Bug 31441] the disk space warning when I start GNOME is wrong
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31441 Comment: It just occurred to me that the "/ for ubuntu" is probably some kind of disk label. The partition which is currently mounted as /mnt/breezy is indeed "/ for ubuntu" when I boot into breezy - it's the partition which I originally installed warty onto. I've since installed dapper onto a different partition, which I assume is also now labelled as "/ for ubuntu". I wasn't booted into breezy when I saw the warning, however, and so the partition it was warning about wasn't "/" at all, but was "/mnt/breezy" at that time. It would be clearer if gnome-volume-manager would refer to the mount point of the filesystem rather than an obscure label which most users are probably unaware of. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 31434] [Dapper] Moving tabs sometimes causes flickering
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31434 Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I noticed that when I have several documents opened at the same time, and I grab the tab of one of the documents to move it around, the tab sometimes "flicker"/hesitates, as you cross the boundary between two tabs. I tried to narrow it down, and found a way to reproduce the problem. I looks like the problems is related to the width of the tabs (hence the length of the file names) relative to each other: 1) create 3 new (empty) documents, and call them for example A.txt, AA.txt nad AAA.txt, so that the tabs will all be of a different length. 2) grab "A.txt", and sloolwy move it's tab : you normally see some flickering. 3) grab "AAA.txt" and do the same : there is no fickering. It seems that the flickering only occurs, if the tab that you are moving, is narrower/shorter than the tab you are trying to jump over so to speak. For example switching from A - (AA) - AAA to (AA) - A - AAA will cause no flicker, but switching to A - AAA - (AA) will. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 31402] gnome-session properties hangs, when writing to files it doesn't have permisions to modify
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31402 Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: This is actualy a two part problem. No, I have not tried Dapper. I prefer not to experiment too much with my stable machine right now and I only have a slow internet access anyway. So I probably won't upgrade to Dapper until it's stable (Apr 2006). Sorry about that. Anyway, if anybody wishes to try to reproduce the bug to verify whether it's fixed or not in Dapper, it should easy: - install the Esperanto language Packages (probably not all of these are necessary): language-pack-eo language-pack-eo-base language-support-eo iesperanto - try to change language either in the GNOME language selector (From top menu bar: Sytem -> Administration -> Language Selection) or when loggin-in from gdm. - observe that Esperanto language is not available even though packages were installed (see screenshot attached a in previous comment).
