[Bug 34989] Deskbar applet does not search bookmarks (handler never loaded)
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34989 Affects: deskbar-applet (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Hey, Deskbar applet ships with a handler to search in a users bookmarks. It autodetects if a users default browser is firefox or epiphany This autodetection is broken and causes the bookmark search handler not to load. Reason: BrowserMatch.py checks the gconf key /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/ for the presence of either the firefox of epiphany string and loads the appropriate handler Unfortunately the said key contains gnome-www-browser %s so neither extension is loaded I presume that gnome-www-browser is an intermediary which checks the /gnome/applications/browser/exec gconf key for which web browser to launch To Repeat: 1) Remove deskbar from the panel 2) execute /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet -w 3) Notice how none of the epiphany, galeon or firefox/mozilla handlers are loaded -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 34966] Alarms do not work in Evolution
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34966 Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: No matter where I create my alarms (either in my Personal calendar or in my Exchange calendar) I don't get any notification. In previous versions of Evolution, this worked great and I would get a dialog pop up at a preset time before the appointment (I set this to 5 minutes). Without this feature I might as well use the Open Web Access feature of Exchange; Evolution is not giving me anything extra (and it's pretty buggy in general). I definitely do have the box asking for an alarm to be checked, both in the general preferences AND in the specific appointment. I also have my system on all the time, and running Evolution all the time, so it's not anything to do with not generating alarms that went by while the system was off. [Bug 34808] ac3 files not playing
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34808 Comment: Sebastian Dröge wrote: > I can confirm this... but I have actually no idea why it works in gst0.8. > mplayer and gst0.10 have the same problem from what I see... The mplayer bug may not be the same one, as it exibits different behaviour (now that I watched the screen). mplayer throws up a video window for a moment with some noisy macroblocks - it plays my longer nonredistributable sample just fine. So it looks like a gstreamer 0.10 problem only. Although the mplayer video thing could possibly be caused by misinitialising something in liba52 I suppose. The sample I've uploaded *may* be corrupted judging by the mplayer problem - but it has the same problem with another nonredistributable file that xine and gstreamer 0.8 play fine. So my leaning is that the uploaded sample *should* work. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 33087] gedit crashes when restart after update is forced
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33087 Comment: I can't actually do much more testing unless you can give me a way to trigger the restart icon in the notification bar that doesn't involve real package upgrades. I've tried downgrading/upgrading various packages and it doesn't turn up so I need some other way (ideally by editing some file) in order to test this. However this bug has two parts. There are times a crash doesn't happen but gedit still quits without putting up a warning dialog (only when a restart is forced from the notification bar). For this part I won't be able to give you backtrace. I honestly can't remember what gedit I had at the time of filing although I'm fairly sure I've seen it with the gedit I have at the moment (2.13.93-0ubuntu1 ). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 34900] desktop icon inconsistency
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34900 Comment: Good catch. Looks like the left-hand two are the same, at different scaling levels. The third looks like the emblem-desktop being added to the normal folder icon. We can make the emblem-desktop be the same as the desktop icon very easily. Separately, I don't think our desktop icon is very clear, I almost prefer the Gnome one, though the Gnome palette is too muted. status confirmed assignee [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 27143] gnome-settings-daemon crashes with evdev
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/27143 Comment: Francois-Denis, could you attach the deb-file you've created with dpkg- buildpackage? This way I would not have to install about 30 MB dev- packages :) BTW: control-center 2.14.0 is available, but still contains the bug. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 25653] Synchronization with Palm Zire31 not working.
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/25653 Comment: Aah, that explains a lot. Indeed /proc/bus/usb is deprecated. The USB devices are now managed with udev, and thus /dev/bus/usb (which should be fully compatible) should be used. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 34916] Applications menu entry does not include functional description
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34916 Comment: This is a very minor issue. However, providing more/better information to the user would allow them to identify the purpose and potential uses of Eclipse without having to run it first. Also, this will allow the entry to conform with the style of other Applications Menu entries. My suggestions are these: Name: Eclipse [IDE|Development|Development Environment] Tooltip: Develop applications in a variety of different programming languages Thanks -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 21374] volume keys unpredictable on powerbook
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/21374 Comment: pbbuttonsd (0.7.2-1ubuntu3) dapper; urgency=low . * src/module_powersave.c: - Ignore lid and power change events if gnome-power-manager is running. * src/module_alsamixer.c: - Ignore keyboard volume keys if gnome-settings-daemon is running. - Should partly fix Malone #21374. * Patch copied to debian/ubuntu-patches/pbbuttonsd.check-gnome.patch. * pbbuttonsd.conf: - Restore default Mute key to uncripple pbbuttonsd for non-Gnome environments. - Use ALSA mixer, not OSS. Does this dapper version make it any better? -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
