[Bug 43299] Re: Can't login with a different user if Automatic login is set

Same here. But personally I find this a feature instead of a bug since this is
used to restrict your gnome sessions to one specific user.

[Bug 42853] Re: Mute conflict between gnome-volume-applet and gnome-volume-manager

2006-05-06 Thread Sean Smith
This happens for me too. The only way to "unmute" it again for me is to
use my volume up/down from my keyboard and this restores the volume.
However... I'm also experiencing another "symptom" -- but not sure if I
should file it as a separate bug or not. On my system, with an onboard
VIA 8235 (Alsa) AC97 chipset, even when I have the volume slider(s) all
the way down and it claims to be "muted," I still receive sound at a
very low volume through my speakers. It's not until I actually choose to
mute it that the sound stops.

[Bug 41085] Dapper Beta: removable media no longer mounted automaticly

2006-05-06 Thread Guy Van Sanden
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Needs Info

Description:
I upgraded my Breezy workstation to Dapper at Flight 5 and went to the
subsequent upgrades up to the Beta (last update: 2006-04-24).

After the upgrade, removable devices were no longer automounted on my
desktop.

Creating a new user did not solve anything.

There are no errors, nothing in syslog or dmesg except the succesfull
detection of the drive.

Clicking CD-ROM in places does mount my CD-ROM.

I tested with several USB sticks and a CD-ROM.

[Bug 43270] Re: Dapper - Some ugly bold fonts in evince and Firefox

2006-05-06 Thread Igor Zubarev
In FontConfig I see Sans font for all documentcs and aplications. Sans Bold for
titles and Monospace for monospace.

In the Firefox screenshot you can see Sage Plugin fonts. They're blurred.
Also see titles of articles in Evince screenshot of May2006 TuxMagazine.

I suppose the problem is Sans Bold. Because of titles.

[Bug 43232] Re: gnome-panel should allow to set margin/padding for icons on panel

2006-05-06 Thread Marcin Antczak
Yes I know that I can change panel width - limitation is that you cannot adjust
padding/margin.

So, for example if you want to use gnome-panel background "borrowed" from
Windows XP Luna - then this gnome-panel will look pretty ugly with icons that
are scaled from top to bottom of this panel.

I just would like to set gnome-panel height to 28 and icon height to 20...
currently I don't see any way to do this.

Thank you for your comments, I've forwarded the issue upstream:

common point is that you don't have a /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom. Do you

[Bug 43286] Nautitus crash copying files

2006-05-06 Thread DaveR
Public bug reported:

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal

 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: nautilus

text file from aborted bugzilla session:

From: David Rowell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug-buddy 2.14.0
Subject: Natulus crashes copying files from folder to folder

Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper)
Package: nautilus
Severity: Normal
Version: GNOME2.14.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: Natulus crashes copying files from folder to folder
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: File and Folder Operations
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.14.1)
Description:
Description of the crash:

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. select several files, in this case 9Mb, in a folder
2. hold down primary mouse button
3. move to destination folder and release mouse button

Expected Results: files copied

How often does this happen? often enough to be annoying but not always

Additional Information: I wish I could give more info but I was
performing the most basic of tasks so I'm bewildered.

How would I know where "sendmail" is located much less the path to it??
Why can't the program figure it out - its yours - you put it somewhere
not I. For that matter I don't even know what "sendmail" is.

[Bug 43273] Re: [Gnome nautilus] bad display of 'Octal Permissions'

2006-05-06 Thread Jérémie Corbier
According to the Desktop User Guide in Nautilus Preferences/List Columns
Preferences:

"Octal Permissions: Choose this option to display the permissions of the item
in octal notation, for example 764."

I think it would be more « user friendly » to only show the first four octal
digits (I don't know if we can speak about user-friendliness when it comes to
octal digits though ^^).

Moreover it would follow what's done with "Permisions" column.

python icons, this seems to be a bug with the mime database, since icons
for *.c files, *.css files and others are missing. We realized we could
make an overides xml file, which you can copy to
/usr/share/mime/packages/ the one he made can be found at
http://piano.juicemedia.tv/Overrides.xml

[Bug 43209] Re: [Bug 43209] Ubuntu customized OpenOffice splashscreen

2006-05-06 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
The splashscreen is shared across both Ubuntu and Kubuntu, so it needs
to look reasonable on both desktops. We deliberately went with a B&W
basis, with both blue and orange hints, to reflect that. Am happy to
take additional suggestions as long as they reflect the need to look
good on both Ubuntu and Kubuntu. Those suggestions should be on the Art
Team wiki pages and discussed on ubuntu-art mailing list.

[Bug 31699] Re: Can't use other than default sound card

2006-05-06 Thread .t.
Now, I have it working so that sound comes through the Audigy, with these
values:
!defaults.pcm.card Audigy2
defaults.ctl.card Audigy2
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.pcm.subdevice -1

However, the Master channel no longer seems to affect the output volume. I have
to use PCM instead. It's no bother, I'm just curious. The issue where the
Audigy2 was outputting no sound seems to have fixed by me completely
reconfiguring ALSA, so it's safe to say that it can be ignored, I think.

[Bug 43257] dual head X causes panel to crash.

2006-05-06 Thread cius
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I set my Xorg.conf up to use dual monitors, no xinerama, no twinview.
I'll include my xorg.conf below for reference.

The problem is, when I click on the 'background' tab in the properties
dialogue for the top panel on my second monitor, the panels on both
monitors crash and restart. This problem is repeatable and only happens
when in the dialogue for the panel on the second monitor. The
properties dialogue for the panel on the first monitor works properly.

[Bug 43253] battery status wrong after suspend

2006-05-06 Thread Kaleo
Public bug reported:

Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The battery status is not updated in hal after suspend. The battery is
reported as absent if plugged during suspend.

Steps to reproduce:

Step 1: Put the laptop (in my case a IBM T43 1871-W34) on AC power and remove
the
battery.
Step 2: Put the laptop into suspend mode.
Step 3: Insert the battery and remove the AC power cable.
Step 4: Bring the laptop back to active status.

This may be related to bug #23744. However, I clearly located that my
issue comes from hal because /proc/acpi/battery is always correct, not

Well, after further testing, I have more information:

 - If I use totem-gstreamer with the "XWindows (no XV)" plugin, the output is
correct
 - If I use totem-gstreamer with the "XWindows (X11/XShm/XV)" plugin, the
output is way too bright.
- If I use xine-ui, the output is exaclty the same as with totem-gstreamer and
the "XWindows (X11/XShm/XV)" plugin. That means way too bright.
