[Bug 49097] Filters not run on incoming
Public bug reported: I have set up a couple of filters. I can verify that they work by marking some e-mail and do Apply Filter. However, they don't get run on incoming mail. I have an Exchange account set up, where I have checked "Apply filters on new messages in the inbox on this server". But the filters don't get applied. [Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time
I have tons of mp3 in a fat32 partition, but amarok is not the only thing that makes gam_server eat cpu (in my case). It happens appartently with no reason. Of course, running amarok gam_server goes mad for sure. -- gam_server consumes lots of cpu time https://launchpad.net/bugs/36581 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time
I now know why this is happening, at least to me. All my music is on a remote samba share, mounted under /mnt. AmaroK monitors the directory for changes using gamin. Gamin expects things under /mnt to be temporarily mounted, so instead of the MUCH more efficient kernel dnotify method of watching for updates, it actually polls all the files in the mounted directory every second. In my case, it probably can't even list all the files in one second, so it's constantly working as hard as it can, in userspace, to do its thing. I'm going to request (upstream) a compile-time option to specify the directory or directories to poll without dnotify, so we can package it as /media, where we expect our temporary mounts to be (the gamin author, I think, is a redhat guy, and expects them under /mnt). Changing to "needs info" because I wonder how many of the rest of you have a similar setup (directories with lots of files under /mnt) that would allow us to close this bug if we get the new compile-time option and a new package for it. ** Changed in: gamin (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Needs Info -- gam_server consumes lots of cpu time https://launchpad.net/bugs/36581 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 48665] Cannot drag and drop to a window listed on stacked taskbar entry
Public bug reported: When dragging an item (for example a selection on gedit) and then hovering a taskbar entry, the corresponding window will be shown. Obviously this is done so that the user can drop the item into the window. However, when some taskbar entries are stacked (for example 5 GIMP windows), dragging something and then hovering the stack label on the taskbar will not trigger anything. [Bug 48955] gnome-volume-control cannot distingusih between capture and output bass/trebel control
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media Hey, I've noticed this bug in kde in the past, but only recently started using ubuntu (and thus, gnome). Basically, I've got an Audigy 1 ES: $ amixer info Card default 'Audigy'/'Audigy 1 ES [SB0160] (rev.3, serial:0x521102) at 0xb880, irq 66' Mixer name: 'SigmaTel STAC9721,23' Components: 'AC97a:83847609' Controls : 199 Simple ctrls : 33 using alsa for the drivers. In recent 2.6 kernels, the alsa drivers provide separate, but similarly named, controls for the capture and output bass control, trebel control, and the tone switch. Unfortunately, gnome-volume-control in the gnome-media package can't distinguish between the capture and output versions of this control, so you get multiple indistinguishable entries in the preferences dialog. Additionally, since the controls are indistinguishable, it only adds the first one to the slider/switch views, and capture seems to come 'first' in most cases. This means that one cannot reliably modify the tone controls using gnome-volume-control. This is really an upstream issue, and it's hardly a major one, but it is mildly irritating, particularly since i've already helped one audio tool fix it once. :) Basically, the controls really need a flag saying whether they're for capture or output (where there's multiples) for clarity as far as the user's concerned and the ability to remember which is which, so it can control them properly.
