[Bug 38181] Re: Screensaver freezes on Dapper (ATI Radeon 8500 LE)

2006-06-21 Thread Greg Fawcett
I have an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (RV 250) which had the same symptoms - 3D
applications would hard freeze. I can still ssh into the box from
another machine, but killing X did nothing, so I think the freeze is
actually the video card.

The suggestion above to add

Option AGPMode 4

to the device section of xorg.conf fixed the problem.

2.8.18-0ubuntu1 came from dapper-updates. Dapper came with
2.8.17-1ubuntu5. I was kinda thrown off when you mentioned fresh
dapper so I checked :-).

Could you downgrade libgtk2.0-0 from 2.8.18-0ubuntu1 to

[Bug 50534] Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition

2006-06-21 Thread csoler
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a luks encrypted partition (2GB) on my HD which appears as an
icon in the disk mounter applet. When clicking on the icon, I get a menu
with entries mount 2GB volume (enabled) and open 2GB volume
(disabled, which makes sense). Still ok.

Now, when I click on mount 2GB volume, nothing happens, and I'm not
asked for a passwd, although when I log on, pmount-hal asks me for one
and I can still choose to mount the partition when loging in.

[Bug 50557] graphical login fails without group execute permission on home directory

2006-06-21 Thread Chris Yeoh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Logging in through gdm fails if group execute permission is not set for
the user's home directory. I don't think it should be necessary for a
user to allow group execute permission on their home directory in order
to have a usable desktop account

This can be be reproduced by creating a new user, and removing group
execute permission on the user's home directory and then attempting to
login with gdm.

The login procedure begins, then the console text is seen briefly before
the gdm login is displayed again. No hint of what is causing the login
to succeed in the X log files and nothing is written to .xsession-
errors.

[Bug 34707] Re: screensaver starting while playing planetpenguin racer

2006-06-21 Thread Paul Nolan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 32457 ***

I know it doesn't seem very related, but the 'screensaver starting with
SDL games' bug on gnome bugzilla was marked as a dupe of that one, and
there is a patch which says:

Updated patch for 2-14. This is already in HEAD.

Note, these changes also fix the problem where the warning fade-out occurs when
playing fullscreen games. In that case the game grabs the keyboard so the
screen can't be locked so we shouldn't do the warning fade at all.

This sounds like what is happening here.

 The suggestion above to add

[Bug 49898] Re: Rong direction using a RTL language pack

2006-06-21 Thread Yaniv Abir
The bottom panel should be horizontally flipped too - for consistency's
sake and as it is more logical for the open applications to align to the
right.

I must stress that this is indeed a severe problem when it comes to
usability in RTL languages - users see the panel before anything else
and such a problem would, in there eyes, reflect the rest of the system.

2006-06-21 Thread Neilen Marais
I have:

$ LANG=en COLUMNS=150 dpkg -l *gnomeprint* | grep ^ii
ii libgnomeprint2.2-0 2.12.1-3ubuntu2 The GNOME
2.2 print architecture - runtime files

ii libgnomeprintui2.2-dev 2.12.1-2ubuntu1 GNOME 2.2
print architecture User Interface - devel files

and
ii evince 0.5.2-0ubuntu3 Document
(postscript, pdf) viewer

The print libraries seem to be the same as Thomas's.

I tried printing to file with 2 to one and 4 to one settings enabled,
with both evince and evolution, using the generic PS driver. The output
is still only one page per page. I'll try with a real printer tomorrow,
but I doubt that will change anything...

Oi, why are my comments being repeated? I don't think *I*'m doing
anything wrong? Anyway, sorry for the annoyance.

[Bug 50621] freezes at end of playlist

2006-06-21 Thread crankben
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When the video player reaches the end of my playlist (mp3), it freezes and goes
blank (no buttons or anything).
I can kill it using the the task bar though it takes a couple of seconds and
reports that the programm is not reacting.

If I try to shutdown my pc while totem freezes, the whole os freezes
(but the desktop and icons remain visible) and only ctrl-alt-backspace
helps...

** Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 50636] Deskbar retains previous focus keyboard shortcut until logoff

2006-06-21 Thread Ealden Esto E . Escañan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

When changing the focus keyboard shortcut (by default AltF3), the
previous key is still active. You need to logoff and log back on again
to remove the problem.

This happens with the version in Dapper Final and Dapper Updates,
whether Deskbar is set to button-in-panel or entry-in-panel mode.

To reproduce:
1. Add Deskbar on the panel
2. Change the focus key to something else (I use SuperQ myself)
3. Unfocus Deskbar and test the new key combination
4. Unfocus Deskbar again and then test with the previous key combination.
