[Bug 51392] Wallpaper needs to be cached to improve render speed
Public bug reported: It has been noted on the mailing list of ubuntu-art that wallpapers shouldn't be created for the largest possible screen resolution partially because it means more rendering time; the wallpaper is large and usually has to be downscaled for proper usage. Therefore, the wallpaper should be cached locally, perhaps even in an uncompressed image format, to cut down on the time needed to render an oversized wallpaper. This is not a bug, but a feature request. It's also unknown whether this would be a good course of action. Maybe it is, but this is a reaction to a mail sent via the mailing list, so not much thought has been put into it. Maybe you could analyze. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-art/2006-June/002343.html ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Wallpaper needs to be cached to improve render speed https://launchpad.net/bugs/51392 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 51407] postmodern tile set has incorrect chinese characters
Public bug reported: Hi there, Despite not being Chinese, starting mahjongg I am somehow offended on behalf of the Zhongren that the default tileset has some characters which are drawn incorrectly; that is to say the character has been stylised based on poor interpretations of the original brush strokes. What has probably happened is that already stylised characters were used as a basis for the postmodern set, and subtleties of the original strokes were overlooked. In particular; the 4 of characters is definitely wrong, and the 7 and 8 of characters look awkward. One or two of the wind tiles do not look to be composed of valid strokes. I think most of the others are probably ok. It might be worth getting someone who is actually Chinese to look at the postmodern tile set and point out which characters need fixing. This might seem stupid and trivial, but I understand well written script is important to the Chinese, and Mahjongg is a famous game with much heritage in that country. ** Affects: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- postmodern tile set has incorrect chinese characters https://launchpad.net/bugs/51407 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 51400] Re: Can't edit partitions without adding and removing
I think what happened was the sub-menu was grayed out for me, and it wasn't completely obvious why. It did feel like the kind of bug that you'd have to be nuking a Windows partition from orbit at the time to truly appreciate. The machine is still caught with the sickness, every circuit dreading that instruction processor leap into sector 0. Even though the system was already purring more gently, it was still weak, not yet fully capable. After some battling, the installer crashed for me [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/50957], at which point I could have sworn I could feel the seething of the entity on the hard disk below towards my fingers. Not to be beaten, I noted it down on my bug powder dust trail, swore I'd curse that behaviour with a bugreport, and fired up ubiquity once more. The next time through we were much better prepared; not going to fall for the murphy's cylinder rounding again [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/51396], I opted for a 2.5GB root, and then bore down upon that XP install with reckless and wanton abandon. With a firm pass through with parted and the installation checkmarked go, I reflected upon how cool it was the first time I got to play Tetris while installing Linux, and how much infinitely cooler this was, installing via the LiveCD. So in this nostalgic moment I chose to log my bug reports, and finish it all off with a gratiutous game of Mahjongg, which, incidentally, was solved first time. That's when I knew that the installation had done the trick. Anyway, IIRC I had a partition space that I wanted to change to don't format that was already marked as being ext3. And, I don't remember Format to... being available. So, I reckon if you can't replicate that behaviour pretty quickly then this bug doesn't really deserve to exist much longer. All the best from NZ dude :-) Keep up the good work and have a great weekend. -- Can't edit partitions without adding and removing https://launchpad.net/bugs/51400 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
