[Bug 48097] Re: gedit does not get focus when opening more than one document
Steven, You are right, the bug does not seem to occur anymore. I don't know which updates fixed the issue, but it must have been quite recent, since I clearly remember seeing the behaviour described on my original post at least one or two weeks ago. Since I don't know what fixed it and, as I said, something like that also happened during Dapper development (i.e. focus issues started appearing, were fixed at some point and appeared again later), I'll keep an eye on this. But hopefully this bug won't have to be reopen. [Bug 52374] PDFs are displayed with the wrong fonts
Public bug reported: I have some PDFs provided by Games Workshop which do not have fonts embedded into them. Evince now replaces the serif fonts with a single sans-serif font. Which looks very weird. Now this is good behaviour unless I actually have the appropriate fonts installed, which I do! But there's a caveat: The PDF uses the Type 1 version of the font, while I have the TrueType version installed! I don't directly see why that shouldn't work. I recon while the TrueType version is being used it won't be perfect, but it'll be lots better than the default sans-serif font which is now used. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- PDFs are displayed with the wrong fonts https://launchpad.net/bugs/52374 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 52348] nautilus stops copying files if it encounters 2 files that differ only by case and the target filesystem is case insensitive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus this happens with the latest edgy version (2.15.2.0-ubuntu1). to reproduce: * create a new directory on a filesystem that is case sensitive (for example on your desktop) * create three files, one named "hehe" and another named "HEHE" and a third named "zzz_another file" * drag the folder to a fat32 partition, or to a ftp server window. => if you look into the copied folder you will see that only the "hehe" file is there. [Bug 52017] Re: changing settings (like paper size) have no effect in CUPS
I know have enabled cups administration via web interface (used root account to authenticate), and now *it works*. I suppose it is a real gnome-cups-manager problem. The changes, however, show up in gnome-cups- manager now. It seems the gnome tool only can't write settings, but can read them. Strangely though, with every change in the printer config CUPS shows E [08/Jul/2006:13:29:36 +0200] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized in /var/log/cups/error_log. But the changes do take effect, and the test pages (the cups and gnome-cups-manager ones) now print right. Printing from applications also works, and processing jobs show up in gnome-cups-manager. If you need any information for tracking down that bug let me know. However, I'm happy I can print now. :) -- changing settings (like paper size) have no effect in CUPS https://launchpad.net/bugs/52017 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 50843] There is no preferences application for localization
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: preferences I would expect there to be a simple way that the user can cofigure what language they want to use for their desktop and how numbers should be presented, default currency etc. In fact a user may speak multiple languages so they should be allowed to give a preferred list of languages. If an app can't present itself in the first language then it tries the next one. KDE has this but I cannot find the equivalent in GNOME. I know it is possible to set the language at the GDM login screen but that is not adequate. I have users that login remotely and thus don't go through GDM. Also the other settings like currency and how to display numbers cannot go on the GDM screen anyway! Every other OS has these features so I think this is quite a significant problem for Ubuntu and GNOME. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Confirmed -- There is no preferences application for localization https://launchpad.net/bugs/50843 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
