[Bug 50621] Re: [Bug 50621] Re: freezes at end of playlist
Hi! First of all thanks for your reply! Maybe you'll get this mail twice since I had troubles with my account. I tried a few things and think I have found the error: I had a folder containing plain text files (lyrics) in some of my music folders and totem tried playing the text. So maybe it should be changed from bug report to feature request though it still somehow bothers me that the whole gui freezes when I ignore totem and try to shut down my pc. Totem 1.4.1 and Gstreamer 0.10.6 both according to the totem info button... The console only tells me that I killed totem which I already knew :D The rest of this mail was written BEFORE I found out about the problem with the text files. So it won't be of much interest anymore, I suppose. Anyway, I'll leave it here - just read it if you need any more specific pieces of information... - Now all the details - hope some of them matter ^^ I can reproduce the bug over and over again - works every time. Here's how to do it: I open nautilus, navigate to my music directory. Then I rightclick a folder containing mp3 files and select "open with video player" --Hope this is how it's called in the English menu, can't really tell since I'm only using the German version.-- So basically I'm just playing down this list of eight files - no repeat, no shuffle. At the end of the last track, the error happens. Moving the cursor over the totem window, it (the cursor) shows the "busy" symbol. I checked in various window layouts (none besides totem, up to totem completely covered with other windows) and it seems that only the top of the window (totem, minimize, maximize and close symbols) are redrawn and are quite snappy in their reactions - except close, of course, which takes several seconds to report that totem does not react. I've run totem from the console but all it tells me is that I killed it - well, of course I did since it froze and I don't want it to freeze my whole system when I try to shut down the computer without killing totem first. Also happened a couple of times. Notably only the GUI seems to be affected since ctrl-alt-del and the like still work when shutting down. Not sure if it has anything to do with the problem but I run totem on the first of my ten desktops directly after startup and then switch to desktop 2-10 depending on the number of programs I use. For this very reason I did not notice the first few freezes and tried to shutdown the pc. The other desktops and all other programs on desktop1 remain perfectly usable and responsive as long as I don't try to shut down my pc. Forgot to mention: the folder of music files also contains a folder of plain text files (lyrics). Totem (1.4.1) uses Gstreamer (0.10.6) both according to the totem info button... [Bug 53380] screensaver activates when changing system time
Public bug reported: I'm not sure if this is a bug with gnome-screensaver or the time-admin tool in gnome-system-tools, but when the time is changed past the threshold (Set session as idle after in Screensaver Preferences), the screensaver activates. For example, if the threshold is 10 minutes (default), and my system time is 6:00, if I open time-admin and set my clock to 6:11, the screensaver will activate when the OK button is pressed. [Bug 52368] crash while unable to setup partition for installation
Public bug reported: I have my IDE hard drive already set up for linux, with a swap partition, two /boot partition (one for fedora, one which was intented for ubuntu) and one for LVM, which has /home, two / and one /tmp. All partitions are primary partition. As I was trying to install ubuntu, I choosed the manual partitionning. The system began scanning, with a ghosted image of a partition tool. But the ghost disappeared, leaving me without any possibility to say where to put what. I can't install ubuntu! However the "continue" button was available. So I press it, and this broke the installe (this is where it is different from bug 40542, and also that until then the installer was not crashed yet). Gah, sorry for being unclear, the user who I was reporting on behalf of was abusing terminology :-/ It turns out that the feature I requested already exists (you can select a site and use the delete *key*), but said user was looking through the window and right-click menus for a pointy clicky way of doing it... Also, I seem to have been unclear; I don't mean that deleting the *page* "foo.com(/index.html)" from the list of pages should delete its sibling page "foo.com/bar.html", I mean deleting the *host* foo.com from the list of hosts should delete its child pages. (Just as deleting a directory from the file manager deletes its child files) Also sorry for prolonging this discussion after it's been closed, I just want to make sure my request is clear before moving upstream, to avoid being rejected on a misunderstanding~ -- Allow deletion of whole sites from history https://launchpad.net/bugs/53071 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
