[Bug 54127] Certain windows steal focus

Hi there,
When I am watching a fullscreen movie or so, and I receive an instant message,
or an email in Wine/Eudora, this pops up a window, but it steals my focus from
the movie I was watching...
This also happens in other applications. I think it should not steal focus from

also irritating in all apps.

[Bug 50017] Re: yelp search doesn't do anything

2006-07-26 Thread Don Scorgie
Hey Joachim ;)

Still having trouble with search? If so, can you try running Yelp from a
command line and pasting any output here. Is the system busy during the time
when the search is happening? Try running the system-monitor and seeing what
the CPU load is (and whether it is Yelp eating the memory). Also running it
under gdb and seeing where it stalls would be a great help:
$ gdb yelp
(gdb) handle SIG33 nostop noprint pass
(gdb) run
Wait till it has searched for ~30 seconds or so
-c if needed to get to the gdb prompt and then:
(gdb) thread apply all bt

and paste the resulting stacktrace.

Thanks.
(Just FYI, basic searching on my machine takes ~ 5 seconds to run, depending on
search terms and other loads, at least the Dapper version)

[Bug 34435] Re: Cairo and ATI RENDER extension cause scrambled buttons in UbuntuLooks

2006-07-26 Thread Hezekiah Carty
I don't think that the XAANoOffscreenPixmaps option should be used as a
fix - it would be really nice if the Ubuntu devs would do what they can
to fix the problem in the driver itself. The problem still exists in
the Edgy Knot 1 livecd, and such a common series of cards shouldn't need
tweaks such as this to get them working.

[Bug 54051] Re: Bluetooth keyboard and mouse disabled by gdm

2006-07-26 Thread AJ Slater
This is more properly addressed by bluez-utils bug #32415

The problem is likely a dbus interaction with gdm/x and it is probably
the bluez package's fault.

The bluetooth keyboard does not work in bluetooth mode in X at all.
If bluez is not started, it pretends to be a ps/2 or usb board, X is none the
wiser and it works.

If anyone else has this problem see workarounds in bug #32415

This bug should probable be closed against gdm.

[Bug 31598] Re: delayed mouse button release causes menus to close

2006-07-26 Thread David Balažic
This is not a bug, but a feature ;-)

Menu selection can work in two ways :
 - "classic" : you click on menu, click on sub-menu and finaly click on the
actual submenu item
 - "single click" mode, you press the mouse button on the menu, move to the
submenu, move to the sub-menu item and only the release the button

The choice is made with the length of the first click. If it is short,
"classic" mode is used. If it is not short, then "single click" mode is
used.

This is the same in GTK+, Firefox, even Windows.

[Bug 54204] Bad keyboard language on Ubuntu 6.06 and Gnome 2.14

2006-07-26 Thread Andrés Ignacio Martínez Soto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I've installed

language-pack-es - translation updates for language Spanish
language-pack-ca - translation updates for language Catalan
language-pack-gnome-ca-base - GNOME translations for language Catalan ...
and some others language packs from spanish languages
{Euskara,Catala,Asturianu...}...
After then, I noticed the keyboard was not mapped correctly (I was programming
in bash when I noticed), then go to gnome-keyboard-properties to see whats with
the keyboard distribution. I found that "Basque" was choose, so I've tried to
change it to "Spanish", when I changed, it remained in "Basque", all other
languages except "Spanish" work correctly.
Then I've looked at locale, that was correctly "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". After that,
rebooted Xserver Xorg, and test keyboard with GDM, then noticed that keyboard
works correctly in GDM, so get logged into Gnome session to confirm that, but
still in "Basque" distribution.

My PC is an AMD XP 2200+ with Ubuntu 6.06, Gnome 2.14 and all security
updates to date, my keboard is a Logitech Itouch in spanish variety and
QWERTY-ES.

Thanks, I'll try to change language to Spanish to see if bug stills.
I think that's a bad mapping of the XML configuration files.

[Bug 54212] "Get Help Online" in Yelp goes to non-existent page

2006-07-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 6.06, all updates installed

1. Choose "System" > "Help" > "System Documentation".
2. In the help window, choose "Help" > "Get Help Online".

What should happen:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/dapper/+sources/yelp/+gethelp

What actually happens:
https://launchpad.net/distros///+sources/yelp/+gethelp (Page not found)

Apparently this bug does not occur for most people (Launchpad Web stats
show plenty of people arriving at the proper address), and I don't know
why I'm special.

** Affects: launchpad-integration (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed

Ubuntu
Dapper

The "Get Help Online" item in other programs works fine; it's just Yelp
where it doesn't work.

2006-07-26 Thread Dennis Kaarsemaker
Does the following work:

launch yelp
open a terminal
enter this command:
launchpad-integration -d --info --pid `pgrep yelp`

If that works maybe the output of this can give some clue:
python -c 'import subprocess; print subprocess'

I'll test if same thing happens with gparted 0.2.5-1.1 that's on Debian
unstable.

This bug is always 100% reproducible on my system, but only on first
start. Second time user starts it, nautilus-sendto works normally.
