No. /usr/lib/gnome-applets/gweather-applet-2 just exits silently when

[Bug 38198] Re: Garbled using open source Radeon driver

2006-07-27 Thread kmedlin
I am using an ATI Radeon 7500 as well but on a Gateway Laptop.

Last night I downloaded the latest 6.0.6 Dapper desktop CD. It was
apparent even in the LiveCD that there was a graphical issue. I
installed it and the problems outlined above by others existed.

So that's a completely vanilla install with no config changes or driver
updates, or anything. I ran the update and downloaded the 130 updates
that were required thinking a fix might be already out there and nothing
changed.

My problem looks exactly like the screenshot above.

[Bug 54256] It is not possible to tell what backend/connection is used for printer

2006-07-27 Thread Michal Suchanek
Public bug reported:

When gnome-cups-manager autodetects a printer it only shows the printer
name, not the connection type/backen used.

This information may be necessary to set up the printer properly.

ie. HP DeskJet printers are shown twice, once with usb/lpt backend and
once with hp backend. The printer only works properly with hplip if the
hp backend is used.

2006-07-27 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
I seems I was a little bit confused in my last comment, it should be:

This bug is definitely no duplicate of bug #24999.

The problem described here is that there are 2 printer models listed

requires changes in gnome-cups-manager.

Bug #24999 is about the fact that 2 duplicate drivers are listed in the
Driver dropdown. That bug has been fixed.

[Bug 32302] Re: Duplicate printers listed when adding HP printer

Michal,

I can agree with you that there should be an indication in detected printers
names for special backends to differentiate between several entries, e.g.:
DESKJET 3820
DESKJET_3820 (hplip)

But I don't think it is necessary to have extra information about the backends.
CUPS webinterface doesn't provide any extra information either for backends
when setting up a printer.
I believe it would be sufficient if gnome-cups-manager just puts the detected
printer with hp backend at the top of the list of detected printers and selects
this by default (as described before).

Pascal

[Bug 54278] .desktop files are inconsistent

2006-07-27 Thread Thiago Dilago
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

There's a file (evolution-2.6.1/debian/evolution-2.2.desktop) which sits
there for nothing.

Solution:
Delete evolution-2.6.1/debian/evolution-2.2.desktop in source package

There are two different icons for evolution (besides the useless one):
one called /usr/share/applications/evolution.desktop - which appears in
Start Menu under Office, and one called evolution-mail.desktop - which
appears under Network menu, and is more consistent with both theme and
text description.

Solution:
Delete evolution-2.6.1/data/evolution.desktop.in.in and
evolution-2.6.1/debian/patches/02_icon.patch (patch appled in
evolution.desktop.in.in ) and apply the patch in attachment this insert the
